I've read to train calves often ( especially if your genetics aren't gonna allow you to have nice calves)......I unfortunatley fall into the lousy calves category.....most of the routines I've been coming across only have 1 day a week to train them.....would it be advisable/sufficiant to train them 2 days a week for the best possible muscle growth?....just not sure about training them 3 or even 4 times per week b/c it seems that amount of training them would be more suited for sprinters/runners/jumpers etc.....
 
Lowering the weight, upping the reps and adding in an extra training day really helped my calf growth quite a bit. I now train them on leg and chest day.. ( I just do a quick calf routine after blasting chest.)
Give it a try might work for you too....
 
I do my calf exercises on stairs with chains on my neck. Works wonders for me. If not...implants!! lol

They respond best to high-rep work. If you really feel they're lagging, go 2x a week. However, progress in any way will be slow, you're not going to really see it in a month whatever you do. Consistency is key.
 
Jump rope for 10-15 minutes every other day. If that's too easy, jump on one foot at a time.
Every step you take you are using your calf muscles, they are used to high reps, so that's what they respond to. 10 minutes of jumping rope is 600 to 900 reps, with the effort of stopping the inertia of your bodyweight, and then pushing it up again quickly enough to clear the ground.

Just jump rope *once* for 10 minutes straight and you'll feel it, you'll be a jump-rope convert for life after that.
 
I'm of the opposite opinion. My calves have responded well to lower rep ranges (<10), very heavy weight, holding at the top and bottom of the movements with no bouncing and finishing off with static holds. I mostly do standing calf raises after back squats. Donkeys & seated raises have had little effectivness for me.
