Confused about fats!

I have read in varius places and have found out through trial and error that certian fats are needed for muscle growth and for the metabolism of body fat. What i need to know is:

which fats?
how much of these fats (in ratio with carbs and protien per day)?
in which foods can i find these fats?
how much of these fats in each food source?
Which fats should i be avoiding?
What time s of the day should i be eating these fats?

I would like to know the above information in relation to my current situation. I am not in preperation for a competion (next comp 8 months out) and i would like to biuld more mass and shape whilst staying fairly lean.
I dont know if this makes any difference when it comes to fat consumption but i am not on any gear at the moment. If it does make a difference - how should i adjust my fat intake when i am on steroids? assuming my goals arte the same as above?

BB...I want to comment on steriods....not knocking you in any shape or form. Dude, your 20 years old. You have enough natural T in your body to do great things, if you just take the time and work hard! I know it's hard because everyone wants to get big...fast! If it was easy, everyone would be huge. Seriously I think you are going to do more harm to your body now by taking steriods than good. Like you said..you've taken d-bol and not kept anything. You really must know what you're doing when taking steriods to do good and keep it..if not you're asking for trouble! And I don't think steriods are for beginners anyway. Most people say have 5 to 8 years natural training to have the base set before taking steriods. Besides, right now, there are lots of legal stuff out that will give you nearly steriod results that are lots safer. (Ergopharm 1-ad, Syntrax sauce, Biotest Mag10, and so on). Really concentrate on your diet, take tons of protein, and supplement with glutamine and others of your choice and I guarantee you will see great results if you try hard! Hell, I'm 38 and in the past year and half I've been training is fabulous! I have dropped body fat and gained probably 15 to 17 lbs of muscle. I wish I would have started and stayed active when I was your age till now! Who knows where I would be! Don't take shortcuts....work hard and it will pay off and be more satisfying!
 
ive been training naturaly scince i was 14. i didnt take any gear untill i was late 19. when i did it was 2 4 week courses of just dianobol, from which i lost the lot about 2 months after i came off. i have now been educating myself about steroids. i want to hold what i gain and not suppress my natural test levels. I WILL be using steroids, though now with long term goals in mind (primobolan, equipoise, winstrol etc...). Thank you for your concern, but i dont use these forums to have people telling me what to do, just how to do it.
 
BB....I wasn't trying to tell you what to do by any means...just voicing an opinion. Please don't take it the wrong way! And fyi, I have heard that it is around age 18 that natural T levels really start to kick in good. And when you do steriods, make sure, like you said to take something to get your natural T-levels back up after coming off a cycle! IMO though I still think you would do better without them!! Good luck and keep us informed.

I don't remember the exact titles of the threads but if you do a search for "flax seed oil" you'll find a lot of great info on fats.

I sure don't want to sound like I'm preaching but I wouldn't have a clear conscience if I didn't agree with dg806. #1 At your age your natural testosterone levels are incredible. You don't need steroids. #2 Also at your age your joints are still forming and if you do go on the gear you're muscles will get too strong too fast which is a formula for injuries that will haunt you for the rest of your life. Be patient with your growth now and you'll be able to stay in the iron game for a LOOOOONG time. Be IM-patient now and you'll never be able to reach your full potential and you'll also spend the rest of your life in pain. Like dg806, I'm not trying to tell you what to do, please don't take it that way. Just want to make sure you're making an informed decision. Good luck to you whichever way you decide to go. :thumb:

Flax seed oil is good but there is better sources of essential fats.
I'll try to explain this the easiest way possible, so please bare with me. Actually this website should explain everything you need to know about flax, hempseed oil and other fat supplements.

Hemp seed oil might be a great source of essential fatty acids but it will also get you popped if your job requires you to take regular urinalysis. :finger:

Sorry to be blunt, but the "Manitoba Harvest" hempseed oil has a THC level lower than 1 part per million.
Dude you can get that level in your body by being around someone who takes one puff.
I dealt with this question alot especially when i did trade shows in the states. There just isnt enough to do anything to you.
It's like hummm, well eating poopy seeds almost.
If you buy a reputable name brand of hemp products the seeds that start the hemp off are so low in THC that even if they did not go through the washing process you still wouldn't test positive.
Alot of people are right to have concerns though, most companies can't boast such low levels.
The Manitoba Harvest products have the lowest levels, thats why we were one of the first companies to be able to sell in the USA.
 
Hmmmmmm..........Guess I should have done more research but it still doesn't matter. My "company" has made it completely illegal to use ANY product that contains hemp, in ANY form, in ANY quantity. :shrug: Just so I can be completely jealous, does it taste any better than flax seed oil? :barf:
 
Sorry, i have to say that there is no better salad dressing than hemp oil/balsamic vinegar/touch of low sodium soya. It has a nutty taste and is absorbed better by your body than flax. The ratio between the 2 omega fats are far superior than flax because in hemp the ratios are the same as in your bodys natural makeup. Your hair, your brain etc. are all made up of the 4:1 omega-6 to 3 so this is why you can utilize it alot better than flax. Flax over time cause cause you to have a deficiency in omega-6 fatty acids, you can get symptoms like dry skin, coughing, flaking skin, rashes, etc. Too bad you cant have any.
Udo's is the next best thing though. It mimics the fats ratio of hemp oil. if you ever change jobs, let me know and i'll send you some samples. :laugh:

J'Bo...is hemp oil more stable than flax ? I left some out and it was not refrigerated and I'm not sure to use it or not (the hemp oil).

You left the hemp oil out of the fridge?

It won't hurt the oil unless it is heated to over 320 degreees ferenheit or left out for a long period of time (after being opened). Hempseed oil like flax is very delicate because of the nature of the essential fats. Keeping the hempoil in the fridge is the best way to prolong the freshness, if it was left out it should be fine. Just put it back in the fridge. A good way to tell is by pouring some into a glass and making sure it still has that deep dark green color and is transluecent. If you are a regular hemp oil conesuer than you can also tell by the smell, it should have that "green" nutty smell. Flax tends to have a sour rancid flavour once it is left out, hempseed oil will most likely be just fine. It will depend how fresh it was in the first place. The problem with most other hempseed oil producers is that they put an expiry date put no packaging date, what good does that do anyone? So as soon as you open it, it could be close to being rancid. It should always be smooth and clear (but very dark green almost black color).
