Cop executes 14yr old for running from him

I had already said that I was trying to find some info on bullet tumble. Thanks though for trying to put words in my mouth (again,) and attempting to discredit me in what I was trying to keep a civil conversation. The point of this little discussion was to eliminate group think on the matter. Clearly you all think this man deserves a fate worse than death. The fact remains that none of us were there.

Evidence will only be able to tell us so much as to what happened that day but discrediting someone in an online forum is proof beyond a reasonable doubt that this cop is a murderer of children.

Naturally we don't know the ins and out of this situation like a prosecutor or defender but hopefully they'll be able to have as much evidence at their disposal if/when this goes to trial. And when that happens I hope that the jury is able to retain their composure and focus on the facts and the evidence they are given, not base their verdict on raw emotion.

Also, when I Google the officer's name I get a wiki page for an actor, a imdb page for the same actor, 2 facebook pages, a linkedin, twitter, and flickr account as the top results.

Please ease up on the personal attacks LW, this isn't Anything Goes. Keep it civil. :hiya:

i'm just playing with you. i have sat here and worried the guy might kill himself... it does bother me no witnesses at the scene saw any marks on the guys face and that it is a CHILD he killed. my son is almost 14 and is still very much the little boy he was not so long ago. the guy is behind a desk now but his behavior was atrociously unprofessional and it is appalling that not more was done about it. i don't think only the man is to blame either. he should have been let go before this happened. he was trouble waiting to happen, his employer knew this, and a kid died.

Agreed. BUT there is an investigation and will more than likely be a trial. No charges have been filed yet but I'm sure it's just a matter of time before the DA makes a case.

I would be very surprised if he still has his job and doesn't face any jail time when all is said and done. It would also be a mistake for the department to allow this man to keep his job after all is said and done and he somehow isn't convicted.

Momma shoulda taught him not to run from the police.

the guy is a school cop not a real cop. he's a security guard a mall cop. he was supposed to wait for the real cops and he didn't....

i think most mothers now do teach kids not to run from police. the school cop was not supposed to pursue this kid. if he thought the kid had a weapon why didn't he wait for the real police? it seems there should be a chain of responsibility for the child's death that does include failure to follow both standard procedure and direct orders.

Wait wait wait. The school district has it's own police?

Are Northside Police Officers real police?
Yes. All Northside Police Officers are commissioned peace officers licensed by the State of Texas. They have full arrest powers and authority.

Can NISD Police Officers make arrests off campus?
Yes. Northside Police Officers can arrest offenders of the law both on and off campus.

Okay, thank God for that. I was about to ask about why a school cop had a sidearm.

clear case of accidental discharge.

I'd forgotten all about that. Good point. That could still be tried and convicted, yes?

kids need to know if you report a crime to campus police it has not actually been reported to the police. campus police are not the same thing and they will often work toward maintaining the image of a school rather than protect the victim. this is especially true with rapes on campuses.

Most large colleges and universities set up full-fledged police departments on school grounds. These sworn officers have the same authority as any other members of the police—they carry weapons, make arrests, and enforce local, state, and federal laws. Smaller schools can contract out their security services to private firms, which supply the same sort of uniformed guards you might see at your local mall. Private security guards may be licensed to carry firearms, batons, or Tasers, but in general, they'll be limited to making citizen's arrests and detaining suspects until real police officers can arrive on the scene.

If he is security guard, then he is not supposed to leave the school property. When kid left the property, he is supposed to call cops and give the discription of the kid to them. By leaving the school property he violated his employer's policy, I think.

Can you find out why he was SUPPOSED to merely contain the situation and wait for an officer with jurisdiction to arrive on the scene?

NISD has a six-part code of procedure for officers dealing with these types of situations.
According to the written procedure, officers are supposed to "take only action that is necessary to contain a situation until an officer of the law enforcement agency with jurisdiction arrives."
In this case, the agency with jurisdiction would have been SAPD; Alvarado did not wait.

if he is a "real" cop why can't he act as one? something is not adding up.

The .223 military round most commonly used in an M16 and M249 is what is called a tumbling round. It is made to enter the body and tumble all over the place causing major damage.

Where did this misguided info come from?

i just wrote security n mall cop for emphasis. i don't know his actual power to act. in a news report though it states he was supposed to follow procedure and wait for a San Antonio police officer to arrive.

i do know at the college i attended my roommate reported a rape to campus cops and they covered it up because the guy was a foreign student ready to graduate. they just moved him to another dorm. when it was then reported to actual local police it was a very different story.

start here Wound Ballistics, Ballistic Injury, Stopping Power, Gunshot Wounds

branch off following the links that suit your interests.

If you want to know more about the terminal effects of bullets in tissue, look up the work by Dr. Martin Fackler. He is a retired Army trauma surgeon and one of the leading authorities in terminal ballistics.

Bullet shape determines how it reacts. ALL spitzer shaped bullets will yaw to some degree or another when it hits anything denser than air, not just the .223/5.56mm.

tumbling rounds are supposedly forbidden in wartime btw.

It may be a matter of what they can do and what they should do. It seems that their jurisdiction begins and ends on school grounds/campus' but if something were to occur on said grounds then they would be able to pursue said assailant pending confirmation from an superior. I suppose that a bus stop, despite location could be argued as being campus jurisdiction (depending on day of week, time of day, etc.)

I'm trying to think of it like a high speed chase crossing county lines. The officers have to have permission to continue to pursue across county lines (and are often given permission in those situations.)

So the way I see it, he was to contain the situation on their jurisdiction, (assist and question the kid that was hit,) the bus stop. And wait for someone with a larger area of operation since he was denied 'crossing county lines.'

Still, if he is assigned to work at that school, then that school is his assigned post. He can't leave his post, leaving the school unprotected. Maybe the prosecutor should find out if he violated any policy.

it happened last November and i guess it's news now because of investigations. time will tell. i think there are enough bad things about this cop to wonder if this was legit and suspect it wasn't.

I see nothing in there as to what you claim. I have studied ballistics for years. This is something I know a little about. I can tell you that a 223 traveling at 3600fps or faster isn't going to tumble. It will pass staright through the body unless it hits heavy bone and fragments. It will not tumble.

This staement from one of those links confirms this to some degree and why you want a heavier bullet.
"This group unanimously affirmed the principles set down by the FBI workshop of 1987: primarily among these was that a bullet must possess the capacity to penetrate deeply enough to reach and disrupt vital body structures if it is to stand any chance of performing reliably in the variety of circumstances a law enforcement officer might meet in a gunfight. Since the 1987 workshop, most law enforcement agencies have adopted the more deeply penetrating heavier bullets"

A spitzer bullet is an aerodynamic bullet design used in most intermediate and high-powered rifle cartridges.
Bullet yaw is due to bullet length vs twist rate of the rifling.

"Yaw has a lot to do with the injury pattern of a bullet on the target, termed "terminal ballistics." A short, high velocity bullet begins to yaw more severely and rotate upon entering tissue. This causes more tissue to be displaced, increases drag, and imparts more of the KE to the target. A longer, heavier bullet might have more KE at a longer range when it hits the target, but it may penetrate so well that it exits the target with much of its KE remaining. Even a bullet with a low KE can impart significant tissue damage if it can be designed to give up all of the KE into the target, and the target is at short range (as with handguns). Despite yaw, an intact bullet that comes to rest in tissue generally has its long axis aligned along the path of the bullet track, though its final position may be either nose forward or base forward. (Jandial et al, 2008)"

Again, these rounds are meant to penetrate and do heavy damage to internal organs. Most of the bullet tumble is a myth and unintended consequence of bullet design. It is mainly for increased velocity and improved travel.

If he was armed and wearing a badge, he was most likely a real cop. If this was an inner city school where they have metal detectors and armed cops on duty, you can bet yer arse he was a cop and not a security guard. If he is a campus police officer, he has just as much power to act as any other police officer. And, thankfully, he did.

The fact that your roommate was embarrassed about having sex with a foreigner is not a reflection on the campus police. Just curious, is this one of the female friends that you has sex with back in the day to see what lesbian sex was like? Just curious.

No. Reports state the glock malfunctioned due to mechanical error. Thankfully no caucasians were harmed during the incident.

no she was a very good girl and when she reported it the campus cops didn't do anything. it's bs to imply she was not actually raped. he was found guilty and did time when it was reported to real cops.

do you realize what a douche you sound like saying thankfully he killed an unarmed kid? maybe you're just relieved that big bad scary kid can't get you now. my son is 14 and taller than me i can still handle him without shooting him. kinda fucking sad what passes for a cop now. :coffee:

^ Its not BS to imply a woman wasnt raped.

Statistically, and i dont have the numbers in front of me....I have porn open right now. but statistically, MANY women make up sexual assaults for a vast array of reasons.

OK I got to ask, what's up with that avi SFW? Is that some girl getting test injections?

i'm sure they do and guys make up tales of conquests and add inches and girth to measurements. but some girls are raped and some guys do have big dicks. what's your point?
