just wondering if the muscle mass you lose when you cut is easier to regain after the cut than it was to gain initially? i've heard a bit about muscle memory and am wondering if it applies in this situation?

anybody?

Anecdotally, yes. I don't know why and I'm too lazy to go digging, but re-growing lost muscle seems to be a lot easier than it was to put on in the first place.

Bump for physiology geeks! We need you!

Yep, gaining back muscle is always much easier. Heck, I re-gained in one month what it took me 6 months to build !!
