Someone said this to me today, just to confirm, it's rubbish right? Even if the calories came from clean foods, the body doesn't work like that does it? Apart from the fact that your body takes a while to adjust to a new diet, and say my metabolism was suited to 2500 calories a day, I couldn't just eat anything up to 4000 and just increase cardio. Or could I?

Someone please explain this, thanks :)

If your set point is 2500 cals and you are eating 4000cals you better be doing some serious cardio to get your self down to your set point (4000-2500= 1500 cals needed to be burned) so that you don't gain weight. Cals in verse cals out.

I wasn???t trying to start anything it just seemed a little suspicious...

Personally I don't see the reason behind eating as much as you want just to burn it off by increasing cardio (and cortisol by the way). If a person just happens to have a large appetite then that is a different story but forcing yourself to eat more than you need or crave is senseless...

Actually I was thinking along the same lines when Boyd first told me about how much he eats. I posted the picture mainly to illustrate that someone can eat that much and still be fit and shredded. His theory (which is working for me and all of his "disciples" at his board), is that one must eat enough to get the body's metabolism kick in gear so that the body will burn fat. Now that is a VERY condensed version of his methods and I dont want to speak for the guy, Im just giving an insight. Its different for everyone and he will personaly put together a routine and diet free of charge for anyone that asks. Not all of us are on such a high calorie diet, mine is around 2500 to 2800. And it seems to work because all of us at his site that follow it are experiencing gains like never before. Oh well, didnt mean to hijack the thread. Carry on please.

Thats kindda what i'm doing now. My diet is pretty steady at 3500-4000 kcals a day and i hover around 211-214, so to cut up a little i threw in a couple of days of cardio into my routine so i don't have to sacrifice food...its too early to pass judgement but i have been noticing some good things (like vascularity not disappearing later in the day etc)

I could eat dirt and it would go straight to my ass.

I have ridiculously metabolism. It's better if I workout regularly.

We calculated in physics class that you would need to wrestle all day at full intensity in order to lose weight.
Cardio helps because you are not eating while you doing it lol.

Ok, I'm not getting the answers I wanted here. Are there any professional nutritionists on this board, or am I just wasting my time?

Speaking hypothetically, (that means I don't need help with my diet), If someone goes running with high insulin levels, brought on by a high sugar intake, they are more likely to burn muscle than fat, yes or no?

Thanks.

All I know is my brother eats like a cow yet still is ripped and looks great. He has a fast metabolism, but he also does a fair amount of cardio.

Two years ago I was eating whatever I wanted (within reason) and running six to eight miles a day. I couldn't keep the weight on! I lost weight like crazy.

Flawed in many ways I think. 12 hours of cardio a day? Thats crap.

12 hours of cardio. I would need to do 75 minutes of cardio to burn 4000 cals a day (This includes BMR).

It is based on what your goals are. I am currently shifting from a looks-based training towards a performance-based so I would say that I will be getting at least 4000, maybe 5000. This will be after PCT of course.

Hate to break the new to you but the average nutrionsit knows next to nothing about human performance...

I thought cardio slows your metabolism if you do it alot

What exact answers are you looking for?
P-funk pretty much laid it out
