I was wondering if anyone here did push-ups a couple times in the evenings just to give their chest and triceps a little workout even though they do a chest and tricep workout at the gym once a week. I always do chest on mondays and was wondering if doing push-ups on Thursday or Saturday would cause my body to be over training?

it could lead to overtraining, but more importantly it's just not necessary.

Why is it overtraning?. After 48 hours you can re-do that particular body part. Moreover, if you lack certain body parts. Retouching is necessay.

After 48 hours is a pretty broad statement dont you think? I first read about this from a book supposedly based on Bulgarian strength routines, guess what - the book was all made up. There was no conference stating such things. They actually went so far as to say that:

1) Warmups are not neccessary, train the body not to need them
2) Training a muscle ever 3 hours if eating and resting properly, is possible

Doing 70 pushups is not exactly my idea of strength training anyway.

Really, so it's okay to train each body part every 48 hours? Wow, I guess I really do not know what I am talking about then.

Retouching is necessary (I have no idea of what retouching means - new term), but I guess you have it all figured out then, why are you asking us?

What do you really think a push-up is going to do for you in regards to size and strength, and please explain this in depth in regards to muscle physiology.

The miracle push up or retouching is going to make the chest be like Anold's chest:D
That is the truth:thumb:

No it won't, it will do nothing more than give you a slight pump.

In fact, it is most useful backstage before a show.

The world record for pushups I believe is over 5,000 - he doesn't look a thing like Arnold.

For a person who can run 26-100 miles, do they have Paul Demayo's legs? Not even close.

Why is high repetition excersize linked to huge muscles? Its not.

With all kind of push up one can build a decent chest. Probably not like Anold or big guys. Like flat, incline or decline push ups. Trust me is attainable. Due to the fact that there are a lot of equipments now people do not reckon with push-up as a big tool of building a decent chest. I have seen guys that only do push ups and their chest were very impressive.

First you say like Arnold, now you say probably not like Arnold. Which leads me to believe you are guessing, yet we are supposed to "believe you."

Very impressive like Brad Pitt impressive?

I cannot continue this because you obviously have little or no understanding of muscle physiology.

It has nothing to do with the availability of equipment, it is basic muscle physiology. If you understood hypertrophy, what causes it and why, you would understand why you can only get so far with a push-up.

Re-read what you just wrote, does that really prove anything? Maybe they had great genetics, maybe they lied and told you that's all they do, maybe they were defined and you preceived their chest as being more impressive than it really was.

Joe does push-ups.
Joe has an impressive chest.
Doing push-ups produces an impressive chest.

This fallacy is committed when a person assumes that one event must cause another just because the events occur together. More formally, this fallacy involves drawing the conclusion that A is the cause of B simply because A and B are in regular conjunction (and there is not a common cause that is actually the cause of A and B). The mistake being made is that the causal conclusion is being drawn without adequate justification.

HA ha Ha ha,
I can't believe you are even giving this guy the time of day prince, he is obviously full of shit. Let him do his push ups and see where it gets him since he know so much.

Pushups may cut it in the ARMY but not for bodybuilders, or jet fighter pilots either.

Are you guys fighting over what I said. You are all full of bb syndrome. What about those guys that have no access to the gym or any equipment? None of you will ever convince me on bb or being a mod does not prove nothing. Lets us forget the topic and move on. (IKTM means I know too much. That is the problem of you have). I wish I could see all of you talking phsique. Thank God is internet.

olusco you are spreading ignorance and most likely anything you say from this point on will be taken with a grain of salt. You need to think about what your saying and do a little studying!

Everyone here probably has access to weights, dont you think?

Even Bruce Lee got addicted to weights when he was exposed to them.
