^ anyone working that hard has earned a roof over their head, heat, lights, and groceries. doesn't have to be fancy but too bad people can't agree at least to that. i just can't see how it makes sense to anyone that working for wages that keep you on welfare is good for America.

When I first joined the military I was making less then that. 550 every two weeks except I was being shot at on a daily basis. I am sorry I just do not have sympathy for people with out drive and motivation. I have even seen mcdonalds workers with drive and motivation. My buddy started flipping burgers and went to management and now owns one. Did this with out a penny to his name. Its called for for a reason. I do not believe in hand outs and i believe in survival for the fitest not caring to the weak.

Here is the thing that it all boils down to. If you dont like the fucking job then dont work there. Get another job. If the only thing your qualified to do is collect shopping carts and your 30 years old then you need a hard look in the mirror and if you would pay attention to any thing I say in other threads i do not support big corp greed and i find any one that does not contribute any thing to society a fucking waste of space period. If a 18 year old kid can go give his life to protect this country the least any one can do is work hard to attempt to be successful.

its simple, just like the military. If you do not get promoted and you look at your service record, at what you have accomplished and to get promoted its probably empty. As a LPO in the navy i get so many of my junior saliors bitching its to hard to get promoted or my eval is unfare. I ask them what qualifications have your completed to be competative and what have you dont to deserve it. They all tell me well I work hard, show up on time, and get my job done. I sit them down and tell them, yeah that is what your getting paid to do. If you want to be at the next pay grade and earn more money you have to earn it. Right now your only doing whats expected of you which will keep you making lower pay and stay the same rank.

If you work at walmart and want a raise, then find out what position will give it to you, then ask your manager what classes or courses can i do on my own time to be competative for it. They will see two things. Your interested in the position and that your willing to work for it. Get that stuff done and then go back up to them and tell them you completed it, that you believe in this organization and you want to be a higher part of some thing great. Remember people not every job is created equal and we all start at the bottom. Some times the bottom means making 8$ an hour. If your 30 and still at the bottom then you have an issue.

The working poor are getting paid more just not by walmart etc but by us. why the fuck do i have to buy their groceries?

first if your mowing lawns then its your landscaping company, your fault for mowing lawns cheap. As for the neightbor knocking on my door asking more money to pay him. That is what I have issues with the gov't stepping in and taking my money to feed worthless people. I have NO issues with gov't assistants for hardworking americans who need it. I have NO issue with people from wallmart getting gov't aid to better them selves so they can strive to get a better job. However, I have issues with people from wallmart getting gov't aid that milk the system, live out of their means and do not live responsibly.

If your making 8$ an hour thats a high school job plan in simple entry level work to help earn extra money, if your still making 8$ an hour and you have kids, a family, rent ect. That is piss poor planning period. That is called being irresponsible with your life style and career. That means that person never once set goals and had no drive to better them self. If some one has no drive to better them self why should i care to help them? I would have NO issue paying gov't assistant to a 26 year old barly making it so they can take night classes to learn a new trade that will pay 16$ an hour. I think of gov't assistance should be a business investment not a way of life. It should be an investment we are willing to take on humanity that they will get on their feet and be productive. Those 8$ jobs will NEVER go away, but those jobs are meant for people with zero work experience, that are looking to get started in life. From the ages 16-18 and at 19 you should have some form of experience that should allow you to make a bit more money based off of a larger resume and refrences.

So again if your 30-40 barly scrapping by i would love to see what you have been doing for the last 10-20 years and I bet you deserve to make that much money.

Yeah I get rich because I made the sacrifice, lived off top roman, drove a car that left me stranded many times and got dumped by superficial girls because i lived in a horrible apt, drove a horrible car just so i can manage my money in hopes to become successful. I use to save 30k a year while I was in the Navy. so I lived off of less then 20k a year which is poverty. I did it just fine. It sucks and is not fun but its possible. He mentioned that Obama will just tax Walmart more, I was pointing out that corporate taxes are very low and some companies like GE pay zero taxes because of loopholes.

It's the repubs that want to lower already low taxes for the rich and corporations and don't give a shit about middle class taxes because we don't "create jobs."
