Hendo pulled a Kongo after Fedor rocked him........beautiful underneath upper cut after the reversal..........

Good call by the ref. Fedor went completely limp. very fun fight to watch. amazing first round. good card actually. except for the 2nd fight. that was boring. the rest was a very action packed card

On another note...SacTown's own Miesha Tate wins The Bantam weight title tonight!!!!

that was an impressive victory for her. she submitted a submission artist. she was defending really well in the second round after she had her back taken. survived, and then in the third round did a great job of jumping to the other side of side control to sink in the arm triangle.

Impressive Arm Triangle...and fun watching 2 hot chicks roll around on the mat.

I was definitely impressed with Tate pulling off that sub on Marloes. She baited Marloes with the knee on belly letting her think she was going for mount and went straight across to side control and the arm triangle. Definitely the best move all night.

I too think the stoppage in the Fedor fight was perfect and a friend of mine just spent the last 2 hours trying to convince me it was early. Fedor went limp with the uppercut and took 4-5 more unanswered blows. He was done.

Hendo is the man. He looked strong as fuck with the extra weight he carried. Fedor is getting digits removed by the Russian mob, I mean M1 global right now lol

Fedor looks way way off his prime. He's lost a lot of muscle mass and conditioning.

yet another controversial early stoppage by Herb Dean.....he needs to be fined and punished

Fedor went limp. he was completely unconscious and took at least 3 blows to the head while not defending himself, and unable to defend himself. though it was not shown on film all the commentators said when he stood up he was still out of it. this was not an early stoppage. this was not even close to an early stoppage. there is nothing controversial about it. I would love to see a fighter other than Fedor stand up today and say "when i'm completely knocked out, my body is limp, and i'm unable to defend myself I want the ref to let me keep going"
Herb Dean potentially saved Fedor's career. If Fedor decides to continue fighting and not retire he is in a better place now than if he would have taken more unanswered shots to the head. This was Fedor's first KO is my understanding. Once you've had one it's easier to have another.

no controversial stoppage here, as stated by bio chem, Fedor not only went limp but it woulda been stopped no more than 10 seconds later as Henderson woulda ground and pound his face till it resembled a kicked in birdcage. Awesome job by herb dean!!

I felt the stoppage was a good one. The main event was good, and I really enjoyed the womens match.

i completely agree. herb dean is known for his early stoppages and needs to get the fuck out for a while. fedor got rocked, yes, but anyone who has been in that position knows that the lights go off and on very quickly and you can recover.

is there a clip of the KO?

YouTube Video

way too early. fedor had began to recover and was beginning to defend himself. as much as he sucks now, he has a good chin and would've been able to keep afloat.

Looks pretty out to me. lol

Faceplant and arms pinned under you in the retard position = not being able to intelligently defend yourself.

By the time Dean pulls him off Dan landed 5 unanswered blows.

^^^^
when you get hit on the button, sometimes everything goes dark for literally a split second and your legs give out, but you come back very quickly, too. as soon as he faceplanted, fedor started moving to get hendo into his guard. his hands were up trying to create distance between him and hendo and dean tried stopping it after 2 additional hits. hendo kept going and landed another 2 or 3 but fedor was not out.
don't get me wrong, i wanted hendo to win, but i would've like to have seen it play out for a bit longer and have him win the right way.

IDK.. Every pundit, expert and even Scott Coker think it was a great stoppage. Only Fedor and a select few fans that think a fighter needs to be put in a coma to truly be considered "out" think otherwise. I actually didn't see a way Dan could win this fight and my money was riding on Fedor. As soon as he faceplanted I knew it was over. And the only reason Fedor had a chance to turn to his back is because Herb Dean was already intervening at that point and Dan still got off a few more shots. Fedor couldn't stand straight when they stood him up either.

I've also heard this compared to the Kongo/Barry fight, but at no point was Kongo 100% limp and face-first on the canvas. Kongo was severely rocked but he kept moving. Fedor, even for a split second, was completely out.

I hear ya. It's always gonna be a matter of opinion but I know of I was in that situation, I would've wanted to keep going. We always say we don't want the fighters to get fucked up and I agree, but they're fighters. They get the shit kicked out of them for a living.

I'm pretty sure Fedor didn't even know what the situation was until he saw it on the big screen moments later.

The thing about this stoppage is that you can't really blame Herb Dean, in fact, he should be lauded for following protocol to a T. People that have a problem with the stoppage should have a problem with the rule itself, not that Dean exhibited poor judgement. I mean it's not like Fedor rolled to his back and pulled guard. He rolled over with his hands flailing and Hendo in side control ready to dish out more damage. He got knocked cold, came to a little bit, then rolled over into more danger. One more huge punch could be the difference between a mild concussion and serious long-term brain damage. They might be fighters but they still have lives to live and families to feed. The idea is to give ass-kickings for a living, not take them.

It is a tough sport when it comes to these decisions. Everything happens very fast, and the decision needs to be made in a split-second. I do think that when a fighter is defenseless and not protecting themselves, the referee needs to step in and stop it. Fans don't like it, but the fact is, it needs to be done. There is always the next fight.

Dean let several obvious blows to the back of the head staring right at them before he stopped it.....

Fight was over and it letting Fedor take a bigger beating would not have changed the outcome. the only thing it did was potentially save Fedor to fight again if he chose to.

They were obvious in the replay yeah, but Herb saw that Fedor was already out before Dan even threw them. And they definitely weren't intentional. Had Fedor been conscious like you say he was, the back of his head wouldn't have been available to punch. So in essence, it was a late stoppage even.

Told you it was controversial...

I dont care if God came down and said it was what it was. We, as true fans, have seen plenty of fighters get bad knockdowns and then recover enough times to merit such an uproar. I believe Fedor, even though hes not a champ, deserves a little more time than other fighters. This isnt in the rules, but weve seen it, Carwin/Lesnar comes to mind. Why didnt Carwin get a TKO? How about Carwin/JDS? Why didnt JDS get a TKO? Why am I even mentioning these fights when Fedor "got KOd?"

Cuz hes listed as TKOd. This is from officials, not fans. A TKO is not a KO.

If Fedor is such a bad ass, no, if Dan got that KO securely, why not see what Fedor was going to do when he rolled over?

As much as I wanted to see the fight go on, I keep seeing this argument come up and I dont know why. There is a consensus that these hits to the back of the head 'woke' Fedor from being KOd. Who knows if thats true, but whats the goal in discussing the strikes? Cuz it shouldve been ruled as a NC?
