It is always said, if you want to lose weight, don't eat X amount of hours before going to bed. Now I come here and I tried doing a search and I am gathering that it IS ok to eat (low carb, low fat snack, not a meal) before going to bed if I am trying to majorly cut some weight. Is this true? Is it ok to eat after let's say 7 or 8pm? Becuase I have been eating my last meal of the day at around 7pm. I don't go to bed necerally starving, but sometimes I am a bit hungry. Any insight would be appreciated.

Actaully a good amount of fat is good before bedtime. I like FF cottage cheese and a handful of almonds. The almonds also actually help increase testosterone. The cottage cheese is a good source of protein. Or you could even have a casein shake and some almonds as well. How about a steak for protein and fat.

So instead of going to bed hungry, eating a steak or some almonds would actually HELP me lose weight? Unfortunately I am not a big fan of cottage cheese but I can definitely make sacrifices if need be to achieve my goals.

Just as long as it fits into your daily calorie intake. Are you making an effort to take 5-6 meals a day. Check out the stickies in the nutrition forum its a good start.

Yeah I read all the stickies and I am almost always under my caloric intake for the day. I am trying as hard as possible to eat between 4 and 6 meals but sometimes it just doesn't workout. I do get to squeeze in some healthy snacks though. I am going to push back my "stop eating" time back to fit in another meal for the day. It's just weird,I have always been taught that eating late is bad for you so breaking out of that mindset is alittle odd. But hell, if it's going to help instead of hurt, I am down with that.

its a good idea to eat someting before you go to bed so that your body has something to use for energy while you sleep. It is just a matter of appropriate portion sizes and macronutrient breakdown. Protein and fat as stated before is needed before bed.

Well if you are working with weights then your body needs those things while you are sleeping to help grow. I would eat those things about 1-2 hours before bed. I dont like eating right before bed, it makes my gut hurt.

I always end my days by mixing in 40g of whey, 2 tbsp of natural peanut butter (or skippy if on hand) and 2 tsp of fiber supp (the clear one). I also use aminogen. I take it a half hour before bed.

I finish off with a couple or rye crackers (very low carb/cal, high fiber) topped with a heaping tbsp of natural PB each, and about 150g of FF cottage cheese.

Learn to like FF CC, it's always going to be reccomended around here.:paddle: :D

Hahah I've noticed. I will definitely learn to acquire a taste for new items and since I am eating so clean, I think my taste buds will adapt much quicker then when I was eating whatever my pudgy ass wanted. Anyway, thanks guys, just gotta reprogram my head to remind myself it's ok to eat certain items later in the day.

during contest prep, I'll take out 1 tbsp of natty and thrown in a 1/2 cup of cc in my then flavored chocolate mousse shake.

wheres your fats? Throw in some olive oil and vinegar at the very least with a tbsp of natural peanut butter.

I am a sucker for cashews which are high in fat. I would definitely drop those for olive oil (an Italian's best friend) and Natural PB (one of my favorites). Hmm. I guess I can put the PB in meal 1 and alittle olive oil on my veggies in meals 2 and 4.

Well I just had a couple teaspoons of natural peanut butter as my goodnight snack. That should fill my fat void until I start the new tweaked meal schedule tomorrow. I'm feeling pretty pumped about it.

Will do. Should I put that in my pre or post workout meal? And Jug, where at the Jerzey shore do you live? I am down there all the time.

NEVER, EVER put fat in your pre-post meals.
Put the fat in a before bedtime snack or any meal during the day.

Depends on your goals. On a cut some fat PWO is ok. There are many diets that share the same opinion.

I don't personally but just sharing a thought.

Ok then, I will put it in my second to last meal (pretty much diner for me). That is my second meal after my workout and by that time it would have been hours and hours after my workout. Just curious, but why is it not good to put the very little fats I do have in my diet after or before my workout?
