Does society really need a slower moving 2 ton single shot cannon capable of taking out buildings, people or entire neighborhoods (when augmented with nitrogen/amonia)? Its called "a car" and it's fully licensed, legal to own, driven by lunatics on the highway at high speed and puts out more devestating energy than many many high caliber handguns (1/2MV^2). Cars have killed more people in the USA than all the safely owned guns in the country combined. To paraphrase that icon of intelect, past Clinton era Surgeon General Joycelin Elders "What this country needs are safer guns (cars) and safer bullets (gas)..." . Do we really need cars? lol

Yeah, a can is a suppressor (silencer). People sometimes think I'm nuts for wanting one, but I really have sensitive ears. Even when I double up on my hearing protection the noise is almost too much to take.

What was stupid about it? As far as I'm concerned he's right on target. (No pun intended.) Cars are by far the most dangerous "weapons" in this country. Cars are by FAR used in the commission of more crimes per year than guns so, why aren't cars illegal?

We're you talking about suppressors? They are legal in VA. From what I've heard you only get the feds breathing down your back when you are a class III dealer, not a little guy like me who just owns an NFA item.

I've also talked to a couple of dealers/manufacturers about legal issues and there aren't any problems. The only problem in VA is that since my Tac has a threaded barrel I can't openly carry it in a city with a population of more than 150,000 (or something like that). I wouldn't carry it (open or concealed) anway since it's too big for that.

Wow, if you say you've talked to some reputable people I believe you. But I sure thought silencers fell under a FEDERAL law the superceded any state laws. It might not be a bad idea to call the BATF just to cover your ass.

Guns kill roughly 30k a year, federal statistics have shown that 2/3 of gun murders in the US are criminals shooting criminals. Granted, there are many types of,"Criminals" but we arent including misdemenors here, lol. Also, the lowest agreed upon(by sane people) statistical number for defensive gun uses per year, is 100k. The only excuse we have for keeping cars legal? Convienience. At least you can use a gun to save your life, but with a car, you're saying your convienience is more important than the lives of 55,000 innocent americans. But yet you want to worry about the lives of 20k shitbags, and 10k innocent Americans? And if you win, defensive gun use will be illegal, and you'll have murdered/raped/robbed/or otherwise seriously injured another 100,000 innocent people? Innocent people who were not so ignorant as yourself, and could have defended themselves? Also, statistics released in 1998(I believe) showed that an astounding 93,000 people die every year due to medical malpractice. Consider how many people doctors save, compared to how many people they let die. Consider how many of the people who died of,"malpractice" would have died soon anyways. The stance that guns should be outlawed is more comparable to this than any other thing; Based on the,"statistical" reasons to ban guns, Doctors should also be outlawed. If you think this is stupid, Just remember; its what you just said.

well od you could make that argument that almost anything could be used as a tool and I see where you are comin from, but the fact of the matter is that the United States has more gun deaths each year then about the next ten biggest nations combined. Is it b/c americans are more homicidal than other people in the world or is it b/c they have strict gun control laws.. Hey I think guns are great. I have shot AR-15s and semi-auto 12g shotguns and all that, I think its as cool as everyoen else does, but we honestly do not need them. Its ridiculous and it was an amendment brought up at the time when Americans needed a citizen militia, we do NOT need one now. I realize that this gun ban didn't do shit. why.. its too small. We are a nation that in certain economicly disadvantaged areas are commiting genocide against ourselves everyday, and we have the gual to complain that we can't have these guns. what teh fucc is wrong with everyone.. open your god damm eyes and look whats going on in this country

If you're referring to columbine, then yes, one of the kids did have a (Semi-automatic)TEC-9. But,"Got their hands on that much firepower"?? What firepower? A TEC-9 is a POS, the only difference between that gun and any other hand gun is the fact that the,"Standard" clip was large(30 rounds If I remember correctly) Are you to say that it was this,"Powerful" gun that they killed 13 people?? Its funny, because Im very secure in saying I could kill that many people with a knife, and not even get caught. (On scene, anyways, forensics crew may figure me out after Ive left the US)

Those were what were banned. Not automatic rifles, semi-automatic. And Pistols that were created to look like submachine guns were banned. But these weapons are no more lethal than any other semi rifle or pistol. As a matter of fact, I LOVE the MP5K(semi-auto.. Just for the look), But if I needed a weapon to defend myself, it would be one of the last on my list, because its practically useless in semi-auto form(In comparison to regular pistols).

Gr81, all i know is that after hurricane frances wiped out my city here in Fl and the police were out of gas, immobilized and no where in site all the locals put up signs saying "looters will be shot". By the 3rd or 4rth day we finally got some society back and things started to settle down but guess what - we had like only 4 incidents of looting in a fairly large city. Think that was because they were descent people - hell no. The looters knew that people were at wits end, stressed out and would have shot and killed anyone who even looked like they did not belong in the devestated neighborhoods. Wait till Ivan wipes out Mobil and New Orleans and Panama City. Watch the chaos that will follow. If you have relatives there pray they are in a neighborhood where the citizen solder has his firearm handy to come to the aid of his neighbor when the looters come. Never, and I repeat, never, trust government to look after you. They can't run the post office efficiently and competently why would you expect them to be able to protect you and your family in times of crisis and anarchy that they have no control over? Do you think that 4 million of the existing firearms currently on the street will suddenly go away if they elect to ban them - hell no.
