The history of many issues CAN be related to racism. That does not justify propagating racism by allowing that to continue. When you associate the goals of the politicians that framed the now defunct gun control laws with assholes in history that used the law to put down black Americans you promote racist tensions uselessly.

The similarity to the propogaters of todays gun control and the racist roots of gun control do still exist. Today it isnt based on a specific race but a need for power over a group. Gun control has never been about crime control. Is has always been about power. It is a lot easier to exert your will over someone when they dont have the means to fight back. This was true with the ex-slaves, the jews in germany prior to the holocost, and various others like cambodia, uganda and rwanda. All these places implimented strict gun control so that the leaders could do whatever they wanted. Of course all were masked under the guise of "crime control". All of these situations led to genocide. The first thing that most crazy dictators have done through history is to take away the right to weapons so that they could be in control. Hitler made all Jews register their firearms before he rounded them up. This concept dates back to scholars like socrates and plato talking about the need to allow people to bear arms. I am NOT saying that US gun control is going to lead to genocide but it sure the hell isnt about controlling crime. Every country that has implimented gun control has seen a sharp rise in crime. The UK and australia are the best examples. Gun control is simply about making citizens into servants.

^^ ^Hey I have a great idea. Let's let the citizens that want to have guns fight all the wars and those that turn them in get a waver from combat. We could do this too with the police and just use neighborhood watch programs. People would know what streets and neighborhoods to be careful of and which were prone to shoot and ask questions later. We could also declare all politicians get a position for life with the caveat that they get a vote of confidence one time per year. The penalty for not winning the confidence vote is death by a citizen firing squad. Think of how good government would work then.

Do you know what age group that is? 18-25. And most of those(male not female) homicides are drug related. Now other age groups especially older (45-65) may be heart attacks, ect.)
You look up any reference for deaths 18-25 amoung black males and see what the cause is?
And you are right. Drug dealers come in any color. I think they are all the same. No difference to me. All are scum. Why does Gr81 take offense to this?
Now as far as me being a racist goes.............my son who is in the second grade has a best friend who is black. He spends the night with him and spends time at his house and vice versa. Do you really think if I was racist I would allow this? The difference here is that his mother and father are very decent people. His father is a school teacher where they attend school. I'm not sure what his mother does for a living but I can tell you their house is nicer than mine. It's not the color of people, it's their moral and ethical character. The original statement was "The #1 cause of death among young African Americans is homicide." His claim was that most of those homicides were DRUG RELATED and that was OK with him because it meant one more DRUG DEALER off the streets. His comment was NOT directed at blacks, whites or any other color of the rainbow. His comment was directed at DRUG DEALERS. On that point I happen to agree with him. I'm pretty sure most of you aren't huge fans of the type of drug dealers who are messing up our streets. Newsflash ... I look like a hippie!!! Long hair more than halfway down to my back, mustache beard & the earring. I get profiled all the time in Texas. Can not count the times I have been pulled over for no reason ... after a very complete search of my ride I got released. Most of the time it involves three or five patrol cars and a canine unit. One county sheriff stayed in quick draw stance the entire time he talked to me cuz he was scarred shitless of me. Nothing I did to the guy ??? just the profile that I fit. Part of the price I pay for letting my freak flag fly. I accept that price and pay it without bitching. I would not dress like Santa Clause and bitch about getting called Santa at the Christmas party either.

I would not expect to walk into a gun-shop without being checked out big-time.
