Going back about 2 years, I found out that I had 2 herniated discs (c5-c6 / c6-c7) causing a ton of pain in my neck back. Went through all kinds of treatment and therapy, nothing worked. I ended up getting back to the gym and really strengthening my upper back and the pain is drastically reduced.

Now just recent I have another slipped disc in my lower back. I can feel constant pain in right above my butt and across my lower back.

Once I can get back to the gym what are some good exercises to work and strengthen those lower back muscles?ROTEIN SHAKE

Just read all your new threads.

You need to quit lifting, you are a wreck.

Wow. I'd be careful lifting or not lift at all if you really have that many problems.

yeah, stick to iso shit for a while. Youre gonna end up as "That guy" in the gym with no wheels though. Wear baggy pants

Had discectomy on lower back L5,S1 2004 back hurt to much ,it took a few month to get better. When squating i only go up to 315 now no pain .Had c5-c6(neck) fusion with hardware jan 2010 out for 6 weeks .by june i was doing rack pulls (3/4 deadlifts)working up to 495lb for 6. 315,405, 495 ,.i do alot of ab work to keep my core tight.I never do less than 6 reps most sets are 10 to 12 reps i dont want to hurt myself again,i am pain free.5'9' 210 48yrs old.If i were you i would do core work to help the back, dont do any overhead press for awhile that is bad for theC-4,5,6,7 (neck) 90% of discs will heal on there own in 8 weeks but you have to nurse the injury .I hurt my neck and back when i was 13yrs old ,so i made it over 30yrs before surgery because i listened to my body ,if it hurts don't do it until that lift does'nt hurt anymore ,go see a Phy.Therap. they can give you exercises to do .Don't give up when lifting is part of your life you will have setbacks and injurys just take care of them and regroup ,you may have to change up your lifting routine ,maybe lighter weight more reps ,maybe you cant get big like that but you can get lean, being lean is better than sitting on your but and turning in to a fat ass, today there is alot of information on how to do a bodypart several different ways .IF YOU WANT TO CONTINUE TRAINING YOU WILL! just regroup and be smart. good luck bro

Rest for your lower back. If your not careful it rupture. I had a herniated disk between L4 & L5. Had it operated on in january 2007.

if you have good insurance, i'd go ahead and get an MRI to see if it's possibly ruptured. if it is, the only thing lifting is gonna do for you is make it worse. if it ruptures to bad, they may have to fuse it, which could put you out for up to a year. i had a rupture (L5/S1) and had the discectomy to repair it. it was a very large herniation and i'm guessing it was because i tried to lift through the pain...and i'm sure working at a steel mill probably didn't help much either. I was back in the gym about 8 weeks after surgery.

^^^^^ Im gonna have to agree. Your threads say it all. Better just give it up now before you are no longer able to enjoy the quality of life.

Actually, the only thing you ever post is pain and injury threads. Shoulder, low back, hip, elbow tendonitis. JC man.
