there's something a little bit absurd that millionaires and billionaires today, in the midst of the deficit crisis, are paying the lowest tax rates that they have paid in decades. So, yes, we're going to have to ask the wealthiest people in this country to start paying their fair share of taxes. I saw a piece in the paper the other day. It was quite incredible. Some billionaires apparently are leaving America, they're giving up their citizenship, and they're going abroad. These great lovers of America who made their money in this country, when you ask them to start paying their fair share of taxes, they're running abroad. We have 19-year-old kids in this country who've died in Iraq and Afghanistan defending this country, they went abroad not to escape taxes, they're working-class kids who died in wars and now some billionaires want to run abroad in order to avoid paying their fair share of taxes. What patriotism, what love of country.

ah yea...the GOP could care less about those that derive their income fom wages. theres only a couple hundred years of data to support that statement.
which republican state is the high wage one? and i dont think none is a state.
PBS alone may not impact the deficit allot but when you add up all the other bullshit that is gov't funded then yes. There is a list a mile long that should be cut for gov't funding. Add up all of them and I bet will be be surprised how much money we save.
This is why I am sending my kids when I have them to a Christian Private School. At first I was against it because out elementary schools where I live have excellent sports programs. Sounds funny hearing that sports programs that young, but our local community is a very competitive D1 area. However, there has never been any sexual assult cases at the private school, I think one of the only schools we have that has not had any incident. Not saying its impossible, but I would rather play with the better statistics in my local area. Yes, LW i know you can google private schools with sexual assault charges.
What brought this up though, is recently we had 3 of them in our local area. The last one was a teacher, teaching 3rd grade playing the "lolli pop" game. Where he would blind fold girls, and have them suck on lollipops guessing the flavor and then have them give him oral sex. They found child porn and ect. If I had kids and he was their teach I think I would have been in prison. Until my kids are smart enough to know what a fucked up perv is, they will be going to a private school.

one of the saddest things in parenting is even having to have that talk that makes kids aware of pedophiles. when i told my son that if anyone grabbed him and tried to hurt him he had to fight hard to get away and get home to me i had read an article saying how low the odds were of ever seeing your child again if a stranger managed to get them in a vehicle. i told him you have to kick, bite, scream... i never imagined it would be teachers that were hurting him.
yep...VA ranks #6 or 7 in per capita income and Texas at #26 with the rest all ranking even lower. the RIGHT TO WORK for less wage states all securing the rock bottom ranks for per capita income.

Keep in mind the red states usualy have a ~30% black population which obviously tends to be uneducated, single parent and underemployed/unemployed.
so the red states with blacks want to be able to pay people slave wages? didn't we have this war once already?

The point is a high black population skews the socioeconomic results.
or does it just prove that republicans can't even create jobs and upward mobility in their own states?

Say what you you will, but there's a whole lot of self-made well off republican voting rednecks in the metro atl area. Only the coloreds seem to be suffering in big numbers.
And coincidentally, the coloreds seem to lead the first 15 minutes of the local news too.
Has any one ever heard the saying.. You cant all ways get what you want? We are in a stage were scarifies need to be made period. We barrow money from China to pay for things funded by the gov't. When we are 16 trillion in debt we can not afford to support every thing no matter how much we may want it. Yes, we may have to make scarifies and stop some funding that may be important, but ultimately funding PBS does not help us reach our goal. I don't know any one that can say I am successful because of big bird. Sure its a great show, but sesame street is a show that can stand alone and support it self off of proper marketing. They even have a theme park, so no one can tell me that with out the gov't sesame street would not make it.
Just as you LW feel that it is important to fund PBS, welfare, medical, give free handouts. I also feel it is important to keep this country safe. The gov't should never invest into a business, we should have learned that when all of Obama's stimulus money went to waste. If you believe PBS is depending on the gov't then your brain washed. Those high up corporate owners are laughing at all the dumb asses buying into this. While they make money off the gov't and then turn around and make even more money off of the shows and channel. They are just taking money to the bank.

Do you actually believe the propaganda that is spewing out of your mouth. How about shoot every one on welfare... Then bill their family for the bullet. That will solve some issues with welfare and bring up employment rates.
Lets just keep every thing that the gov't funds and not make any cuts because we live in lala land. Lets just cut the military out and fuck over their pensions but its ok because big bird is funded by the gov't. Lets reduce the pay of all fire fighters, law enforcement, but its cool because PBS gets free cash.
