Well week 1 went very well. Except for the fact that I am unspeakably sore after Friday's hamstring party. It hurt to do many things today, haha. But the leg split is definitely a good thing.

Built, I tried the GHRs and failed...it was too awkward setting them up (my gym is rather small, the machine I was jamming my feet under didn't have enough weight to keep my legs down either) and i was way too weak after RDLs and good mornings. Everything else went really well.

I didn't mean for you to do RDLs, GMs AND GHRs! (by the way, load plates onto the seat of the leg extension seat next time you want to try GHRs)

This was what we had set up:

Ham Dominant, Quad accessory, Triceps
  • RDLs 5x5
  • Good mornings or GHRs 3x8
  • Barbell Split squats or walking lunges 3x8 each side
  • SHELC, one leg at at time if two becomes too easy

Did you try the SHELC?

in regards to the soreness after training your legs, i used to be the same way... train legs once a week, walk around feeling like you have a pickle up your butt until they recover... and before you know it it's leg day again :P

but i personally find that i get LESS sore now that i'm training legs 2 days a week... i think they're just more conditioned now and can withstand all the brutal lifting...

No, I went with lunges. So i ended up with RDLs, good mornings, curls, and lunges.

LOL...exactly man..

I hope this is the case. We'll see. I doubt anything will change though, I always get sore after a good workout. It can be very, very annoying, but it always gives me the feeling of a job well done, even if it doesn't mean much, so I kinda like it.

Why is that?? I ALWAYS do RDL's, then GM's(3x8 @ 215) , then weighted GHR's( 3x8 65 lb. dumbell held to chest), then accessory hammer strength standing ham curls...too much?? I seem to get them all in with high intensity(esp my RDL's warm ups then reps @ 385 4x6) with no problem, I don't go too heavy on standing hammy curls though...burned out by then.

It's just how I wrote it, biggfly. You have a real GHR, right? Paraphoe does not.

And I never do leg curls. I don't really find that they DO anything - do you? If you want a high-rep movement, maybe try SHELC or walking lunges.

Yea I have a real GHR so they are a sensible and accessible movement for me, hammy curls...well no, not really. I can't seem to get heavy enough weight to make it seem really like work, its sort of an awkward exercise. I think I mainly do them as a warm down from the higher intensity movements. Should ditch them...I will try SHELCS or lunges next week.

I agree about the curls...I find them to be very awkward. I might replace them with SHELCS also.

When SHELC get easy, do 'em one leg at a time.

You can also try pullthroughs and kettlebell swings.
