Hi
I re-started training like 3 1/2 months ago,so far its going pretty well i lost a lot of body fat and gain some muscle. But the only place i find that the fat is still more noticeable is on my sides ( love handles ).I lost some but not as much as i wished.I just wanted to know to really get rid of that fat is it just something with the diet or is there any exercise i can do to melt those love handles off? thanks

there are no exercises that can directly affect your love handles, you will have to bring your BF% down. Having said that, any exercise that burns calories, joined by a healthy diet (actually more important than any exercise) is going to "work".

Just drop the fat...

Just keep doing what you are doing. "Those stubborn areas" are really just places where you proportionally carry more bodyfat, so e.g. if you lose 2% bodyfat - you'll lose that 2% proportionally across your body - but 2% of "more" will not look as good as 2% of "less".

Also particularly around the waist, when you dump bodyfat, it can take a little longer for the skin to catch up - there are still pockets of fat and water in your skin layer - so just keep doing what you're doing and it will catch up.

As noted above, there's really nothing you can do specifically for those areas - no such thing as "spot reducing" exercises. Also noting that people tend to think doing heavy ab work wil tighten that up - its still fat you're dealing with. If you're exercising those muscles, just like all your other muscle groups, they'll get bigger - which can make you look blocky instead of "leaning out" like most people envision. (This doesn't happen immediately if you start adding more ab work or oblique work, but just calling out that its not something that will really be helping you lose fat in those areas.)

hmmm... interesting...

Fat loss is the only way to go as mentioned - Diet and cardio! Most of my fat was stored around the sides over my obliques and in my upper chest. I never noticed it so much in my upper chest till I dropped from 18% down to 11% which I'm at now but boy has my chest seemed to shrink haha. S'ok though, I now have abs and more striations in my chest and shoulders :ohyeah:

I am about at 18% right now.But i have trouble going below that. The lowest i got was about 13-14% many years back.

It's all about diet mate. I thought I was pretty lean until I changed my diet and cut carbs down to around 100g per day. It's amazing how much more definition can be seen by dropping a few %

get into doin some fasted morning cardio, also a great way to start the day!!!
