Alien and Aliens were awesome, using Giger was the best move Ridley made for that movie......hopefully the prequel will break new grounds as the Original did....

Here are some brand new set photos, taken from the designs of H.R Giger, for Ridley Scott's upcoming Prometheus! Looking at the images, the design of the environment kinda reminds you of the tunnel, that was constructed out of an Aliens mosaic in the first film!

"Visionary filmmaker Ridley Scott returns to the genre he helped define, creating an original science fiction epic set in the most dangerous corners of the universe. The film takes a team of scientists and explorers on a thrilling journey that will test their physical and mental limits and strand them on a distant world, where they will discover the answers to our most profound questions and to life???s ultimate mystery."

Ridley Scott has taken his production of Prometheus to Iceland to film what will equate to about 15 minutes of the movie there. Scott explained his choice of using Iceland by saying, "It is possible to find similar landscapes elsewhere in the world, but here it is so rough and ???Jurassic-like??? and that proved decisive. Iceland is a massively beautiful country."

So glad they brought Giger back. It was his design after all that has left such a lasting impression in us all for the past 32 years.

Maybe Fox won't f*ck this movie up like they did when they murdered Alien 3 and that lame attempt with Alien Resurrection. And we'll just imagine Alien v Predator didn't happen.

Fingered crossed...

Time to listen to ELP in honor of Giger :)

Spectacular First Images of Michael Fassbender & Charlize Theron in Prometheus

Scans of the new Entertainment Weekly have hit the internet, and they feature brand new images of the outstanding cast, the alien sets, and a mysterious giant head.

From these scans of Ridley Scott's prequel to his 1979 classic sci-fi film, Alien, we know that Prometheus is the name of the spaceship. We also have a great quote from Ridley Scott, he says, "Fans of the original Alien will definitely notice some things, especially toward the end. But I really can't say any more than that."

Ridley Scott Talks About Giger's Involvement in PROMETHEUS & No Original Xenomorphs

Ridley Scott Talks About Giger's Involvement in PROMETHEUS & No Original Xenomorphs

Ridley Scott spoke with the website Filmophilia while he was filming key scenes in Iceland, and he talks about comparing Noomi Rapace to Sigourney Weaver in his prequel to Alien.
prometehus%20banne599.jpg

While Ridley Scott was being interviewed by Filmophilia he wonders why the other creative minds that worked on the sequels to his 1979 classic Alien never used the Space Jockeys. Which is a enormous Alien body that is found in first movie as some of the astronauts explore a spaceship. There they come upon the fossilized remains of the Space Jockey, whose body has a gaping wound by it's chest. A wound that implies that an alien at one point gestated and hatched in the Space Jockey, just like what we see with the humans later in the film.

EGE: Will you be using any of Giger’s original design for this film?

RS: We’ve had a pretty good relationship with Giger for many years. I was the first one to go see him in Switzerland, and persuade him to get on a plane. He wouldn’t get on a plane, because he was afraid of flying. And he finally came to Shepperton. He was with me for eleven months. Never went into town, stayed over a pub in Shepperton. Very non-Giger, not exotic. You’d think he’d be in a suite in a hotel. He’s in a pub. He was in a room over a pub, and he was very happy there. And yeah, I brought him in, I showed him what we were doing, showed him the story and he liked it a lot. So he’s doing a little bit of work for me. He’s been doing some murals, big murals, which we’ll see in almost one of the first chambers we encounter when we land where we’re gonna go.

EGE: Final question. I have a feeling what the answer will be, but many want to know. Will we see the original xenomorph in Prometheus?

RS: No. Absolutely not. They squeezed it dry. He (the xenomorph) did very well. (He laughs) He survived, he’s now in Disneyland in Orlando, and no way am I going back there. How did he end up in Disneyland? I saw him in Disneyland, Jesus Christ!

EGE: Do you see Noomi [Rapace] as something of a successor to Sigourney?

RS: Yeah, I mean, they’re quite different women. Sigourney, to start with, is 6’1’’ in stocking feet, and Noomi insists that she is 5’1’’ in stocking feet. (He laughs) I look at a lot of foreign movies, and unfortunately a lot of mainstream movies aren’t terribly good. You know. (He laughs)

The most influential for me are the new ones around the corner, and I look at a lot of foreign films and a lot of Scandinavian films. The Scandinavians have a very good touch for making movies, you guys (Icelanders) as well. I saw Dragon Tattoo a year ago, the first one. And, “Wow, who is that?” and from that I said, “This is the girl that’s going to do the film.” She came to L.A. and I met with her, and discovered that she’s in fact extraordinarily posh, as opposed to punk. So there was a real actress. A real actress, very, very good. So, I don’t know, she will just do great.

Along with the new high resolution photo from the Ridley Scott-directed science fiction horror film Prometheus, writer Damon Lindelof also talks about the scope of the film. Check it out... WolvieCBM - 1/14/2012

Ridley Scott, director of "Alien" and "Blade Runner," returns to the genre he helped define. With PROMETHEUS, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.

The image comes from the article over at Hero Complex, where writer of the film Damon Lindelof (co-creator of Lost) talks about the scope of Prometheus. More below:

"The movie is definitely epic in its scope. One of the filmmakers that we ended up talking about to a fair degree of redundancy was David Lean, who directed ‘Lawrence of Arabia.’ We wanted to make the movie feel big by having the characters be small in big spaces, That connected to the larger themes we were talking about — that we’re all just these little gnats crawling around on our little planet."

Starring Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba and Logan Marshall-Green, Prometheus is set to hit theatres on June 8th, 2012

Fox Confirm Plans For A PROMETHEUS Sequel Set To Be Released In 2014 Or 2015

In a piece about which of the summer blockbusters released this year look set to get a sequel, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that 20th Century Fox and Ridley Scott are moving ahead with a follow-up to Prometheus. With a budget of $130 million and a worldwide box office gross of $303 million, there's no reason for the studio not to continue the franchise. Both Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace are signed up to return, although it's unclear whether or not the films co-writer Damon Lindelof will be able to return due to other commitments. "Ridley is incredibly excited about the movie, but we have to get it right. We can't rush it," Fox president of production Emma Watts, told the site. Apparently, the Prometheus sequel will be released in 2014 or 2015.
