Ok, So Ive started a small cycle, Im working out like a mo fo and it seems like the hardest part of my program is the dam protien intake.. weighing 300 lbs im thinking I need to take in almost 500 grams of protien a day.. Is that right? the problem with that is every whey shake only has 20 grams of protien in it, im making it with soy milk which gives me another 7 grams per 8 ounces, however with dam near 15 shakes a day + reg food my calorie intake is through the roof which means ill be nice and stacked yet have a belly like santa....

any ideas?

Firstly - What is your BF%?
Secondly - are you trying to gain or lose weight?
Thirdly - how active are you?
Fourthly - How old are you?

All of these will alter your requirements but unless you are 300 pounds and ripped to shreads (eg: BF% of less than 12) then you probably do not need 500g protein....

And can you give more detail as to what are you doing in terms of your diet..?? (meals/times etc?)... You can't live off whey shakes.

lol ok...

stats: 6"8, 296 lbs,
-works out 6 days a week, probably a bit too much, 1 hour of cardio, 2 hours of weights..
-body fat @ 14%
-23 inch arms
benching -315 lbs

eating 5 times a day..

average daily diet consists of approx 3-5 lbs of brochili, 1-2 lbs of carots, a bushel of spinich, 2 galons of soy milk, 12 ounces of either chickin or fish, sardeens, 2 servings of fruit and whatever healthy filler i find around the house...then ya, about 15 of these dam shakes a day.... im intaking approx 6k calories a day, I used to work out years ago and have always had good genetics but after self destructing myself I got back into it late last year.

I am hyper by nature, now im supercharged hyper but noticing all these shakes sloshing around in my belly....

Well bro, make biggewr shakes. mine are 40-50g of whey. and being a male you should not take in that much soy. too much aint good for guys or so I hear.

If you are bulking , 6,000is ok. I mean when i bulk again i will be eating around that, and i am 6'5 and 245. 12-13%.

Have like 4 shakes a day, each at 40g whey, then at bed have 40g casein.

this is 200g protein.

1lb chicken breasts and 2 cans tuna = 185g protein

half gallon of skim or 1percent milk is = 65g protein

total will be like 450g protein a day.

good luck bro.

If those really are your stats then you need to eat more frequently. 5 meals is too little - you need to look at something closer to 10 meals.

You still do not need to aim for 500g protein - with 255 pounds of lean mass look to getting something around 350-380g at a max. As long as you are getting enough carbs and protein then this is enough.

That means you can have 8-10 meals of 40 ish grams of protein.

I would then go out and get a better protein powder - something with more protein per serve. Then buy a whole heap of chicken breast, canned tuna, canned salmon, eggs, and swap the soy for skim milk.

Drop your shakes back to 3 at a max and instead use the above ingredients to get your protein. If you use carbs like legumes and beans and fats such as nuts and seeds you will also get some protein from them as well.

That should be more than enough.

good ideas..... eating that much chicken will be a challenge for me but I think im going to try that diet this week....curious though, you dont think soy milk is better than skim milk??? soy has 7 grams of protien per 8 ounces with no cholesteral... anyways thanks alot..:)
