What are the advantages to fish oil as compared to Olive Oil or Flax? My girlfriend just bought some fish oil caps and just to see how much each cap holds, i busted some open and it took 5 to fill up a tbsp.

I, didnt do anything. She is trying to find a way to take her efa's without tasting them.

thanks for the link, I cant believe I missed that part.

No, I meant why would you bust them open LOL! Fish oil is fantastic and the best EFA out there :D

lol, I was trying to prove to her how much was in there. So after reading all that, my question still is not answered. The bottle says to take 1 capsule 3 times a day with meals, but that seems like a small amount. Should she still incorporate a couple tbsp of olive oil per day on top of the fish oil.

3 grams would be the bare minimum intake of Omega 3's

If she took 6-10 capsules of the Fish oil she will be fine with EFA's.

get the enteric coated caps from costco/sam's club. They taste like jelly beans :)

What about the mercury in fish oil?

That's exactly what I use, but I got them from Walmart. Great stuff. I always forget to take them with meals, so I keep them in my bathroom. That way, I take them when I brush. (5 caps with breakfast and dinner)

I though you all might like that interesting little window into my life. :)

I was probably wrong. :)

:hmmm: Where'd you get this idea from?

I thought uh... fish now contain high levels of mercury... hence this would be from them, therefor uh, it would have mercury in it.. uh..

Mercury in fish oil supplements can be present if the fish oil is not molecularly distilled.

Only the process of molecular distillation can guarantee the removal of all toxins that have built up in the fish and most companies fish oil capsules are molecularly distilled.
