Hey Warrior, if you haven't tried it yet, why not give the DL a go with a trap bar.
You may just power right past your "sticking point" pretty quickly.
Once you do, go back to BB DL.
Just a suggestion.
I do use gloves when using the trap bar. About the only thing I do use them for.
Because of my carpal and cubital tunnel surgeries I don't have the grip strength I used to have. I may need to look into some hooks for the heavier stuff...DL, shrugs as they are really starting to get back up into respectable lift territory.
Family issues are killing my diet and training schedule.
Doubt I'll be able to make much progress during this contest but I won't be quitting. I'm still gaining lots of good info on my form and how to bring up my weak points.
Might hit some heavy squats tonight. Just depends on how late I have my niece.

side note.... Ab work does and will help with DL and squat. That lower back problem you had could be due to weak ab wall.
I came off the box, and felt my hips keep rising as my upper body leaned forward. I caught it and adjusted but the bar definitely tried to fold me over.
