Ok, I finally got one of my PL buddies to hit the gym with me.

We've decided to scrap westside for now and focus on my form. It's amazing how many holes you can find in your game when someone is standing there looking for them.

Chest/Tris/Bis

BB Flat Bench - very low weight. Focused on my form and getting in more of a powerlifting groove instead of bodybuilding. Amazingly I LOST 60lbs on my bench doing this, but he thinks a lot of it is mental.

Steep Incline BB Press

Dips

Pec Deck + forced negatives

Cable Flys

Superset: Cable Pressdowns/BB Curls

The extra touch of arm work gave me a RIDICULOUS pump since my tris were already fried.

Deadlifts tonight

Warm up
DL Singles @ 225, 315, 405 and 495. Tossed on a little more weight and pulled 1 last single for a vid, then did 315 for reps.

DB Rows 4x5

Cable Rows 3x12

Lat Pulldowns 4x6

Rear Delt Machine 3x12

Video is ugly, shot on a galaxy s5 tho. I can see my upper back rounding over. Any other holes I'm missing?

Looked like it went up pretty easily WB.

I like to engage my lats at the setup so my scapula are pulled down and back. I'll try to hold it all the way through the completed pull. I find this helps keep my back neutral during the lift and protects my lumbar spine.
 
I thought about doing deca my next cycle for exactly that reason

I was running 1000mg Test and 600mg of Deca on my last blast. Joints felt better and I felt stronger overall.

This long ester Tren needs to hurry it up.

Thinking of bumping it up. Just trying to find my sweet spot where I'm getting full power without wasting gear.

Hey Warrior, if you haven't tried it yet, why not give the DL a go with a trap bar.
You may just power right past your "sticking point" pretty quickly.
Once you do, go back to BB DL.

Just a suggestion.

I use a trap/hex bar for shrugs but that's about it. The knurling tears my hands to shreds.

Feels more like a squat than a DL IMHO.

My PL buddy, who's been lifting with me, had a lot to complain about my bench but the forums are the only ones offering constructive criticism on my DL.

I do use gloves when using the trap bar. About the only thing I do use them for.
Because of my carpal and cubital tunnel surgeries I don't have the grip strength I used to have. I may need to look into some hooks for the heavier stuff...DL, shrugs as they are really starting to get back up into respectable lift territory.
 
I would keep the DL the same and use band to add/reduce weight where needed. Changing to trap bar changed themechanics of the movement.

to make the DL smother upper back work is needed to make the movement Easyer to get through. I can post video depicting things to fix at a later date. Will let you know when I get it up...

i say start with bands and upper back work. Erector work Specifically.
 
As usealittle said trap bar is totally different mechanics as in strongman events it's like a side handle car dl where I can hang with 700lb dead lifters but once that bar goes in front they destroy me. It's not a bad lift to add but I wouldn't take barbell out. Try 18" deadlifts and reverse hypers and bands are always a good suggestion
 
Family issues are killing my diet and training schedule.

Doubt I'll be able to make much progress during this contest but I won't be quitting. I'm still gaining lots of good info on my form and how to bring up my weak points.

Might hit some heavy squats tonight. Just depends on how late I have my niece.

PF, I had both hands operated for carpal tunnel. Quite honestly, it took a good year of therapy to get back to where I could DL 500# without wincing. I used a lot of hard ball massage (actually with a cueball) as well as grip work. The scar tissue and sensitivity is non-existent. Have you tried doing some deep tissue work to alleviate some of the weakness?

Real life happens brother. All we can do is our best when we can hit it.
 
Damaster is right. I've had times when I could only get in twice a week. Still made great gains after everything went back to normal, so think of the bigger picture

Hope all your family issues get resolved and just do what you can but family always first.
 
So I took the last 2 weeks off. Had my sister committed to rehab for her heroin addiction and I've been watching her daughter/my niece.

First night back I did a full leg routine.

Box Squats - 135 x 8, 225 x 5, 315 x 3, 365 x 3, 405 x 1, 425 x 1 *new PR* Belt Only

Leg Press - 4 x 8 x 6 plates

Seated Calf Raises - 4 x 20 x 1 plate

Seated Leg Curls - 4 x 8 x 175

Threw in some rotator cuff work at the end of my session since they've been bothering me lately.

No vids. Just wanted to move weight. Although I felt my lower back start to give on my PR. Guess I need more hypers and reverse hypers in my life.

Sorry to hear about your sister brother. That has to be a tough situation all around. It's a great step that she's getting help and has you to look after her daughter.

side note.... Ab work does and will help with DL and squat. That lower back problem you had could be due to weak ab wall.

I came off the box, and felt my hips keep rising as my upper body leaned forward. I caught it and adjusted but the bar definitely tried to fold me over.

Yes it will definitely do that so try to get in the habit of warming up with that same movement so what's the way it's heavier he becomes a secondary movement and your body will do it automatically. Also without video I can't tell but what it sounds like if you also leaned forward a whole lot. all you need is a very slight movement, a inch or two lean forward to get your momentum moving forward that's all you need.

Worse actually. My sister got out of rehab and went back to her boyfriend. They've taken to stealing to support their habit.

My mom and I still have guardianship of my niece. So we're just holding shit together the best we can.
