Depends which state you are in. In many states, a person is legally able to consent to sex at the age of 16. In some states, its 18. Down South, its 13, unless it is with family - in which case it is 9.

The High Cost of the Death Penalty to Taxpayers

Capital punishment in California, as in every other state, is more expensive than a life imprisonment sentence without the opportunity of parole. These costs are not the result of frivolous appeals but rather the result of Constitutionally mandated safeguards that can be summarized as follows:

• Juries must be given clear guidelines on sentencing, which result in explicit provisions for what constitutes aggravating and mitigating circumstances.
• Defendants must have a dual trial--one to establish guilt or innocence and if guilty a second trial to determine whether or not they would get the death penalty.

A question I have about those costs, is how much of that money would be spent anyways? Are they including the judges salary for prolonged court cases, as well as public defendants, etc? Of course we are going to pay those people anyways, so in the end the difference might not be that great.

I can definitely see where more money is involved as far as the jurors go, as well as paying for expert witness, and so on. However, I kind of get the feeling those numbers are inflated due to reoccuring costs that we'd have to pay anyhow.

If the trial is fair and the person forcibly raped someone without a reasonable doubt then I think death penalty is fair.

Where I live some engineers and a project manager recently built a bridge with cheap concrete. The bridge is now sinking slowly and a new bridge has to be built - again - with taxpayer money.

I believe it is said that many of the child rapists were raped themselves.

However what would cause a person who was raped themselves to rape another? Wouldn't they be at the very least mentally ill themselves and how do you put a person who is mentally ill to death? Or help them to NEVER do it again and how do you help those that are raped truthfully. I believe that when the FOCUS is put on someone WHO IS RAPED - THAT - THAT (the FOCUS on the act that happened) - IN AND OF ITSELF is at least AS BAD IF NOT MORESO that the rape itself. I believe that in countries where prostitution is allowed, child rape is almost non-existant. I am not sure about this but it seems to me I am remembering it right.

And as to prostitution IT MUST BE people of age and abilility of consent and give that consent freely FIRSTHAND. AND NEVER CHILDREN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its quite easy... generally the easiest is to stick the barrel of a gun in their mouth and pull the trigger. I suggest doing it in a place that can be cleaned up easily.

Have you ever been raped? Of course all the problems associated with rape make it worse... its hard to admit to it, and victims often feel a sense of shame. Sometimes blaming themselves for not struggling enough, or whatever else the ase may be. Regardless of that, they should not just forget what happened to them and not press charges. Yes, it wasn't their fault... but the person that did that to them needs to be stopped.

The reason that people say that its fitting that they are raped in prison for what they have done, is that is true justice. That they got the same as they gave to others. That is what fairness demands.

Whether they are mentally ill or not is no excuse. We prosecute people that do things when they are drunk all the time, but we aren't going to punish people because they are screwed up in the head? That is rediculous... a person should be responsible for their actions no matter what the case is. You're going to say, well they had a choice to drink. Well, by the same way you attribute a lack of guilt to someone because they are mentally ill, I could also say that an alcoholic is mentally ill, and in the same way should not be prosecuted.

So lets not beat around the bush. Society needs to see consequences for its actions... that is the best deterrent you could have. Offering "therapy" to criminals isnt a deterrent, its usually a day late and a dollar short, and in no way is going to keep future criminals from committing certain actions. With rapists I'd say there is definitely a mental problem, but its probably akin to the problem that somebody has when they murder someone. They are a piece of shit and think they can get away with it.

And it is the job of society and government to not allow that to happen.

Let me just speak in for a step here. The Bible says "though shalt not kill". However, it has completely endorsed the right of government to establish laws that provide for capital punishment.

Thou shalt not kill is a personal command, not something that applies to law and government, where it is done according to established rule.

You can find plenty of cases of people being killed in the bible, by Gods command plenty of that time.

Embezzle more than $27,000 from a state bank = death penalty.

Deal Heroin = death penalty.

In a culture that is in the bottom of the barrell, the death penalty is the only resort--and even then, idiots do the crime.

Poor countries cannot afford to lose what little resources that they have because of GREED.

And this is greed....at the expense of others.
