I'm new to the whole bodybuilding seen. I do not know the lingo or what terms to search for, so if my question is answered else where, please point me in the correct direction.

I'm 5'6, 140lb with a slim but muscular build. I've always wanted to get into bodybuilding to gain mass, but have been held back by the fact that I know absolutely nothing about nutrition or weight training. I tried in the passed to read up on the subject, but there seem to be lots of conflicting programs & info. scattered about which has made everything a little more confusion and frustrating for me.

Anyway, the questions I have so far are - are there any good solid/generic tried & tested workout plans? Once I find one, how do I know how much weight to start out with, and how often to increase up the poundage? Any help would be much appreciated...

Thanks

I recommend to read the stickies, alot of good info on there. Also a subscribtion to a workout magazine like Flex or Muscle and Fitness would be very beneficial.

Read the link in my sig on "getting started".

Welcome to the board.

The state of your physique has a lot to do with your diet. Training properly is important but there are so many ways to train correctly.

That said, at your size you may want to look into Mark Rippetoe's Starting Strength. It is a great program for beginners and will teach you a lot about training.

Welcome to IronMag! I think you got some great advice. I have never read into the Starting Strength but if it's similar to BodyforLife I would maybe start there. Good luck to you!

Muscle Gelz Transdermals
IronMag Labs Prohormones
starting strength strength for sure, that and at liest 4000 calories a day will do wonders

Thanks all; I'll look "into Mark Rippetoe's Starting Strength". Do you all really recommend I try to eat 4000 caleries per day?
