I go to bed around 1 and have 1 cup cott chese with wee bit of natty pb and 3 fish oils. I wake up once or twice to pee, times always vary. Is it beneficial to chug down a scoop of whey shake?

I would think your body is in the mode to sleep and repair, not process food.

ok, because i've read before that many guys show "dedication" by waking up at a certain time to eat certain kind of protein,
I guess no more of that~

Well IMO you would be sacrificing the quality of your sleep, which is more important to your body than getting some extra cals/protein in.

I have read in many places to drink a shake before going back to sleep. I have a buddy who I have been lifting with for years and he swears by it.

I think a lot of it is individual. If it seems to interfere with getting back to sleep then it's not a great idea. If you have no problem, then I'd say it can only help.

I myself don't set an alarm or anything but if I do happen to wake up in the middle of the night I'll have a scoop of whey and back to bed.

I couldn't agree more.

That whole waking up and having a shake idea is such a dumb idea. I can't believe people actually feel that helps them

Jodi, I do not wake up on purpose but i have to pee so badly (due to drinking lot of water) than I wake up and have the whey arleady prepared in a shaker bottle. I just put water in it and gult it down and go back to bed.

If i don't set an alarm to wake up and its a daily routine, should i keep doing it? or just pee n go abck to bed skipping the whey.

So then taper off you drinking water later in the evening. A solid sleep would mean much more to me.

Okay, i'll just have the whey shake with my cott cheese before bed. But i do get up at least once to pee tho but o well.

well i haev one scoop whey (24g) and oen cup cott cheese(casein) (28g).

if you take the casein shake before you go to sleep you won't have to worry about waking up in the middle of the night and taking another. especially if you don't think that the combination that you are currently taking is working out for you to well?

the cottage cheese is fine.

wake up at night. piss. go back to bed.....why is this stuff so hard?

I swear, you guys create more problems stressing over the stupidest shit.

IT ISN'T THAT HARD!

LIFT; EAT; REST

haha p funk that's a funny way to put it

it's the honest truth.

people stress about the stupidest things:

- should i wake in the middle of the night to eat?

- should i take creatine or glutamine or both?

- should i do 5x5 or 4x6 or 3x3 or 2x15??

just think basics.

If I wake up because I have to take a leak, I'll eat a protein pudding or a small shake before going back to bed. If I do that, I ALWAYS wake up happier because I'm not so fucking hungry. If I don't wake up, I don't eat. Good enough, just hungrier when I wake.
