We are almost always told to do only compund exercises. Isolation exercises are a waste of time...
So how come Jay cutler and other famous bbers have so many isolation exercises in their routines?
The foundation is built with bread and butter exersises, compound movements. This doesn't mean that isolation movements don't have a use or place in training. Along with the mass you want to etch in detail and shape. This comes over time by contracting muscles very hard along with diet and genetics. In the beginning though you would want to pretty much stay with the compound exersises. Don't know who told you isolation exersises were a waste unless they meant in the beginning.
Because he has 20+ years of muscle already and only needs to refine and maintain it. We on the other hand are nowhere near that level of development so we need the big lifts.
I worked out right next to Cutler for about 5 years in Vegas before he won his first O. there is nothing special about his training routine at all. he's a genetic freak, takes a lot of gear like all IFBB pros and his diet is impeccable.
