i fast every night when i go to bed. upon waking the fast is over and i am ready to eat again.
I've thought about it, but I don't know if the health benefits outweigh the downsides. Its depriving your body of what it needs....I think if you drink a lot of water you will flush out all the toxins fasting would...if not more.
how about drinking water and fasting?!
Your body as a whole needs nutrients. Fasting in my eyes just deprives the body of what it needs to function.
I have Buddhist friends that fast occasionally and they seem plenty healthy. Hell, they are probably some of the healthiest looking people I have ever seen. The needs of the body are over emphasized while the needs of the mind and soul are extremely over looked.
I am sure that fasting isn't going to hurt anyone if they do it safely. It has been part of religious practices for centuries. Also from what I have learned from my friends it is a great way to reach a new level of discipline and self determination. Those tools could be applied to putting back all that was lost during the fast and then some.
Is part of their religious practices to workout, or body build? I think for anyone that is taking part in any form of a workout has more to lose than gain from fasting....just my opinion.
My ex girlfriend ate like total shit every meal of the day, but her body was rediculous....she would always say to me "I am the fattest skinny person you know"....what you see on the outside doesn't always relect whats going on on the inside.
If you google for the topic, you get some very interesting links. It can even be used to cure cancer - I didn't know that. After having read quite a bit on the topic, it doesn't sound so dumb to me anymore. Anyway, I wouldn't do it; sounds a bit too tough for my taste.
