Anyone been to a gun store recently?

I'm still waiting for a definition of "arms" to be honest.

hence the inherent problem with language and words almost always being open to interpretation unless a specific definition is stated. and the only place I have seen that is in engineering documents from the IETF.

Limiting clip size doesn't infringe on the actual right. When the 2nd amendment was written guns were black powder single fire. I'm still waiting for a definition of "arms" to be honest.

limiting MAGAZINE (not clip) size also won't make you, or anyone any safer. As shown by the fact that we already had a federal magazine capacity limit passed under Clinton. 10 years later when that law expired it was not renewed because it had been found to be utterly worthless.

Also, Banning 30 round magazines and AR style rifles won't prevent, or help prevent another Newtown. As a matter of fact if the AR had never been invented it wouldn't have prevented the original Newtown. Mostly because an AR was never used there. Wanting to ban assault rifles to prevent a similar tragedy when an assault rifle wasn't used is like saying we should ban tylenol because aspirin thins the blood.

Everything that LW has posted in this thread i agree with.

I laugh at all the tits that think limiting magazine capacity will solve anything. Here's what challenge anyone: I will load up two magazines for my pistol, empty the first one and during the time it takes me to swap it out and resume firing try to get close enough to take me down.

I've never been one of those 2nd Amendment supporters who's sole argument is, "Because the document says "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED"". Conversely, I've also never understood this particular line of thinking. Please name any other provision of the Constitution or any of it's amendments that you seek to limit simply becuase you've set some arbitrary standard of "NEED". Would you support these:

I don't think the KKK NEEDS to spew it's hatread, so let's dis-allow anything I perceive to be hate speech.

I don't think the Westboro Baptist Church NEEDS to be a bunch of despicable assholes so let's dis-allow their religion.

I don't think Occupy Wall Street NEEDS to spread their filth all over public parks and streets, so let's dis-allow thier right to assemble.

Yep, it's the Bill of Rights not the Bill of Needs.

Don't know why someone needs an AR-15? Tough shit.

Watch this debate. This guy should be the NRA spokesperson. I think the host shit himself when he found out the guy was armed.

anyone here who thinks a gun ban, or an assault weapon ban should be made should watch that. because everyone one of the arguments for a ban is smoke and mirrors. this interview shows that. I kinda wish the interviewer was better prepared though. he showed too much ignorance there.

There is nothing fantastic about the m16/m4/ar15 platform. But they know many, many vets are trained with them and vets are the biggest threat to the establishment, as per the new terror handbooks.

You cant really engage a trained police force with anything less than a semi auto long rifle, and they know this.

Your average person is more afraid of them than other guns because of one thing: movies.

Keep in mind, these are the same people that believe that silencers will enable to a gun to fire with a very, very quiet "phut" sound. These are also the same people that have probably never heard the word "suppressor."

I can't help but think of this fact: "Half of everyone is below average intelligence."

good point, a vet with a gun would know how to maximize use of any gun and not just run around spraying children with bullets. I bet a lone gunner with a plan could paralyze any downtown easily.

they are ridiculously easy to shoot and that makes them so dangerous. just about anybody can be trained to shoot a rifle as long as they don't have vision like Mr Magoo. shooting a target from a distance also makes it far less personal, when done under cover the shooter doesn't even have to make eye contact with his/her target.

none of which are characteristics specific to the firearms listed.

Charles Whitman, University of Texas, Austin. Earned the Sharpshooter's badge when in the Marines. For 1 1/2 hours he owned that university. His downfall was not barricading the doors behind him well enough.

His Remington model 700 had a 4, maybe 5, round magazine depending on caliber. Which leads me to ask the question of anti-gun nuts: How is a smaller magazine capacity going to limit the carnage?

Any rifle is easy to shoot.

cruisers have "to serve and protect" written on them that i've seen. Nothing about "defend" once again the interviewer shows his ignorance on the subject.

It is also a US Supreme Court ruling that the police are in no way obligated to intervene if they witness a crime happening.
