in sarajevo all the UN did was provide food while the serbs bombarded us from up the montains and shoot us with snipers. after 3 years of fighting the bosnian army got stronger and regained 1/3 of bosnia in only 4 months and was going to Banja luka (serbian main strong hold) well thats when the us stepped in and demended for the war to stop or they would start bombing us. and why? because we would remove all serbs from bosnia... all politics, im not blaiming the US for anything, im thank full because they helped us alot

If they would look for the prophet within and not the profit without religions would all be cool with me.bio-chem said:seems to me more people should be looking for living prophets so there is less confusion about God.

interesting point. not all religions are about the money. many give crazy amounts of aid the sick and poor.maniclion said:If they would look for the prophet within and not the profit without religions would all be cool with me.
007 said:Neither... Islam believe that the New Testament has been altered and that he never claimed to be God. That is not to say that everything in the New and Old testament has been changed, but we can't be sure what is man made or true revelation.
thats the thing about philosophy. you never come to a conclusion. you just get more open ended questions. talking to a philosopher about religion gets nowhere. to accept religion in any form at some point you have to accept the fact that there are absolute truths. if everything is rendered relative then we are in a world of hurt.Eggs said:Thats what I was saying Bio... there doesn't seem to be a general overall leader of Islam. Or of Chistianity, as there are the various manifestations of it. I believe the word "cult" to be overused these days.
Many words are... for example, earlier I was talking to my philosophy prof, discussing a statement that he made that we are all "philosophers" because we all philosophize in our own way. So I asked him if my putting a band-aid on someone or giving them tylenol makes me a doctor. He stated it didn't, and gave me an excuse why not. However, I'm not buying it. There are various shades in those fields, and I believe a philosopher is at the top, as is doctor. At the bottom, a person who thinks about life and makes decisions as such is a thinker in my book, but not necessarily a philosopher. And a person who puts band aids on people does indeed dable in medical work, but they would hardly be referred to as a doctor. I didn't tell him that of course, I just let him talk... I'd like to not fail that class
Hrmm, would failing a class make me a failure?![]()
And I thought we were starting to have an intelligent conversation...buildingup said:i consider it false!

True..Eggs said:But one could claim that of Islam... and then we are simply going around in circles.
Belief can be a complicated thing, can it not?![]()
Of course I don't mean become a prophet I meant look for guidance within and not from some word of others claiming to be "prophets" and don't try to be a prophet for someone else.Eggs said:And extremely misguided. Prophets exist in stories... neither you nor I are or will ever be oneJust like Gods, we can all believe we are Gods, and you can believe that until the worms are eating the shit out of your intestines as you rot in the earth. It still doesn't make you a God. Of course in some peoples opinions you might be, but they dont think so very much of a God then.
Anyways, those things work really well in books.
thats the thing. just because there are and have been false prophets doesnt mean we should disregard the idea all together. what it should do is make us search harder and be more accepting of the real ones.maniclion said:Of course I don't mean become a prophet I meant look for guidance within and not from some word of others claiming to be "prophets" and don't try to be a prophet for someone else.
I'm a real prophet......come follow me brother, I will lead you to the truth.bio-chem said:thats the thing. just because there are and have been false prophets doesnt mean we should disregard the idea all together. what it should do is make us search harder and be more accepting of the real ones.
by their fruits ye shall know them.... so far you dont believe in God. How can you be a prophet to a God that doesnt exist? i think ill keep looking. you dont seem to pass the criteria. sorry.ForemanRules said:I'm a real prophet......come follow me brother, I will lead you to the truth.
You are clearly being led by Lucifer......I can set you free from his poisonous embrace.bio-chem said:by their fruits ye shall know them.... so far you dont believe in God. How can you be a prophet to a God that doesnt exist? i think ill keep looking. you dont seem to pass the criteria. sorry.
Eggs said:One of the things that doesn't make sense to me is that the New Testament states that Jesus Christ called himself the son of God....For if the New Testament states that Jesus Christ is the son of God, and Islam states that he is not, but that he is a prophet... then what sense is there to be made of that?
So either Jesus is a liar and a bad man, or Islam is incorrect in its assessment of the diety of Jesus Christ. Could you explain to me which you think would be the more correct of those statements? And of course, your reason for believing so.
