Stupid question but what is the proper technique for boiling eggs (hard boiling them). Thanks in advanced!! :thumb:

Don't feel bad, I always wanted to ask the same question but was to ashamed to ask.

put eggs in pot and cover with water about 1inch above eggs. Bring to a boil and then set your timer for 10-12 mins. lettting them boil the whole time.

Yep, don't boil the water before you put the eggs in, they will crack. Ask me how I know!

Bring the water to a boil, put in the eggs for 5-8 min, then put them under very cold water so they peel easily.

I would do the same except boil them for 10 minutes. i've had some large and extra large eggs that needed more time or they were still soft in the middle. :barf:

WuRd

After they boil, I put the eggs in a bowl of water filled with ice to cool them quickly. Cold eggs are easier to peel.

I always add some salt in the boiling water. Someone gave me that tip. It helps to harden the shells and stops the shells from cracking in the boiling water.

Personally I only boil them 3-4 min, but if they are for eating later then a full 8 min....Soft if they are for now but that can get nasty if you eat them later.

I do the salt and the cold water plunge, but I also add 2 Tblspns of vinegar to prevent cracking. 10 minutes is best.

I bought one of those electric egg cookers, just put the eggs in, turn it on, and come back when its done... enjoy.

i boil like tons of cartons of eggs then just stick them in the refrig then just go in there and eat them that way i dont have to do any work in the morning when im tired LOL
