Mozilla FireFox Users?

So far so good with 4.0

It's nice, but I'll be sticking with Google Chrome.

shoot..still using 3.6..at work i have 4..has a different look i think

For some reason 4 seems to be slower or my wireless is fucked up for the last 2 days.

I've tried and it's great. So much faster. But one of most useful extensions, Tab Kit Plus, doesn't work on FF4 yet. So I can't use it.

I didn't know 4.0 was out but just upgraded thanks to this post. So far so good!

had to un-select the "tabs on top"

Love Firefox. Have been using it for a long time now. Where is a good place to find out about new add ons and extensions

I'm sticking with 3.6.16.

Upgrading browsers always fucks up my porn downloading add-ons.

FYI, I work in the IT field.

The biggest source of viruses that I've seen lately is Flash advertisements. The best solution to avoid viruses is a good anti-virus (Microsoft Security Essentials. Free for home use) and Firefox with Adblock Plus. ABP strips out 99.9% of all advertisements and auto-updates with new definitions seamlessly in the background.

I had the Microsoft Security essentials but got a rootkit that Microsoft couldnt remove and actually sent me a link to a Kapersky removal tool, since then it's been Kaperksy all the way. it even helped out another forum with a banner ad that had a virus and the kapersky wouldnt let me on the site

I've heard nothing but good stuff about Kapersky. But I've also not had any problems with MSE. With my clients and friends, anyway. I use Ubuntu, so I don't run any AV.

Norton blows. It's resource intensive and prone to bugs and fighting with legitimate programs.

I really like Ubuntu. I've been using it since July of '06. It has gotten better every release (every six months). It has a Linux version of just about every Windows app you'd use on a daily basis. Rock solid.

It is 100% customizable. There is nothing that you can't modify to fit how you want to use your OS.

Plus, in regards to eye candy, Compiz makes everything from Windows and Apple look like finger painting.

And this only shows a fraction of what the eye candy can do. Really, this only shows about 20% of what you can do.

Most importantly, It doesn't tell you what you can and can't do with it.

Lastly, it's 100% free.

If you want to try it without making any changes to your PC, just download the ISO, and burn it to a CD. Boot from that CD, and choose "Try Ubuntu." It'll load from the CD into RAM and run pretty much as it would if you had installed it to your hard drive. It'll be quite a bit slower though.

+1, very good OS that's generally pretty stable. The only reason I still run Windows is for Visual Studio basically since I don't play games much anymore.

My father in law is using ubuntu and mentioned it before, that video look pretty cool.

Oh, hell yes it does.

I'm never going back to Windows. I'm not going to use any OS that tells me what I can, and can't, do.

When Vista was in development, they were going to make it so that you had to register with a Microsoft "Media Server" if you wanted to rip CDs or DVDs. So that everything you ripped would be stamped with your unique ID. They didn't put that "feature" into Vista, but it gives you an idea were they're heading.

And that's just one of the shit moves they're trying to pull.

You can use VirtualBox. It's even in the repositories.

Oh I'm aware. Considering that I primarily am either working in Visual Studio or (rarely) playing Team Fortess 2 on my pc, it didn't make sense to be running linux. Every single application I used with the exception of Chromium was being run either in Virtualbox, wine, or on a VM on my ESXi server.

I fkg love Firefox. It works way better than IE and the add-ons and customs shit you can do to your browser is great. Yes, I upgraded and it's great. I seem to have lost one of my add-ons in the upgrade, but it wasn't one I used or needed anyway.

Fair enough. For me though, they only thing I run on WINE is Dreamweaver and I don't use any VM.

If I feel like playing a game, I either use my laptop (hooked to my LED monitor/mouse/keyboard via a KVM) or dual-boot into Windows on my desktop.
