The altar has nothing to do with it. The whole same sex marriage debate revolves around civil law and the rights and protections afforded by civil law. If 50% of Americans think that marriage is a strictly religious institution, those 50% are too fucking stupid to even have a right to vote, because they have no idea what their country's laws are about. They should be immediately and summarily disenfranchised.

Notice that Rich didn't mention that for years, police officers did just that in this country - ruthlessly beat and jail gay Americans. In fact, it was one of the more entertaining things they did in their line of work - after all, something must have happened in order for the police to have such a nice, long established hostile relationship with their gay communities. By his own admission, they were ignorant. Wow..another revelation...public servants who could inflict physical and material harm on our own citizens out of ignorance and not be held accountable for their actions.

Of course, that history is automatically erased when the squad suddenly realizes they were supposed to serve and protect ALL the citizens. . .and even hire the qualified ones, too. Can you imagine? Isn't that just more evidence of the erosion of America...a nation in which only white men with their peepees aiming in the proper direction were capable of performing any kind of job.

Yep. . .and Rich himself admits that...heck, he used to believe that same thang too...and..well, still does in many ways. It's the American thang to do. . .spend billions every week to free some foreigners who never did a thing for this country and persecute our own citizens cuz they want the right to automatic inheritance to the partner of their choice.

Good God! I just hope this kid isnt capable of reproducing.................. :barf: ...............Uncle Rich

Well now - you've already said that you bore easily, so I'm not surprised that your patriotic commitment to real American ideals would so easily be discarded anytime you wish to persecute your own citizen. I'm sure that's well-grounded in your religious beliefs, too.

Usually when someone doesn't wish to attend a wedding, they simply don't go - they don't demand that two people not get married simply because they don't "want to see" it. Maybe you should take a break and come back when you can come up with a better reason for denying human rights beyond the rest of the town doesn't want you to get married. There is no constitutional foundation in that attitude, so it isn't even a conservative proposal - just a radical knee-jerk reaction to a need to maintain an illusion about human relationships.

Sorry to disappoint you, Richie. . .but then, as a self-proclaimed historian, you musta missed researching some history about your own profession.

There are few things more entertaining than a "conservative" with a selective memory.

I don't think you get it - marriage is a highly individual choice, not a popular mandate from the neighbors. A constitutional amendment should open your own relationship choices for my voting consideration too.

Hi Kbm,

ABSOLUTELY RIGHT ON!!!!

I notice one thing that IS PREVALENT - "religious" people have AND display a LOT of HATRED AND BIGOTRY toward other people EVEN THOUGH they PUT ON another "face" to try to get people to think they are "so good" and "pure"!!!!!!!!!!!!! And they sure USE God as their "ok" to do these type things. And they "say" ALL THE TIME "God said" when GOD HIMSELF NEVER DID - EVER! God SPEAKS for HIMSELF and NEVER NEEDS someone to speak FOR Him. I know when I have something to say I, I, say it MYSELF. And I would bet the farm just about everyone else does also. "Religions" ARE RESPONSIBLE for all the BULL**** that exists and surely "religion" is RESPONSIBLE for wars more often than not - LOOK at history and see for yourself. And they sure are "glued at the hips and the lips" with politicians....

EVERYONE has an ABSOLUTE RIGHT to THEIR life and THEIR living. As long as each person is of age and ability of consent and give that consent freely NO ONE ELSE - NO GOVERNMENT, NO RELIGION, NOBODY - has ANY RIGHT to interfere in their private lives and their living. NO ONE!!!! EVER!!! And for some people to set themselves up as "the almighty" to legislate how two people CHOOSE to live their lives is PURE BULL****!!!

I will give one "concession" though - ONLY under these terms - if ALL people are willing that I (also meaning anyone on the opposite side of this discussion) can also interfere with THEIR private lives and have the government INTERFERE with THEIR lives just as some others like doing to some people, in other words when EVERYONE CAN INTERFERE as THEY "see fit" into any other people's PRIVATE life - that means I can (meaning anyone can) enter into your bedroom and tell you what you can and can not do and how and when and the "law" will be EQUALLY APPLIED TO EVERY PERSON - then let's go for LEGISLATING "marriage". Additionally, since there are THOUSANDS of "religions" I would want EACH "religion" to have their imput into this legislation so it can be EQUALLY APPLIED to EVERYONE based on ALL "religious" beliefs.

It is PURE BULL**** for any "religion" to dictate what other people can and can not do based on "that religion's" beliefs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Take Care, John H.

bandaid- you think the opinion of one lawyer holds sway in this country? if you do thats kind of niave. if you quoted a federal supreme court justice that would hold much more sway. despite what one lawyers opinion is that you know its hardly enough to put to rest the fears of a majority of americans. you seem sanguine on the thought that this amendment will never pass anyways. i think with the majority of americans feeling the way we do on this subject, i hold out hope this amendment will pass.

Holds more credence than biochem major's assessment of marriage laws.

Yes, I'm resorting to ad hominem attack. :)

I just told you other states don't have to honor gay marriages from Massachussets because of my personal experience with a gay collegue. (She came back married in Mass and Georgia said tough.) I added a llink explaining why states are protected from from this enforcement that you clearly stated would happen and it was nice to note the author had some knowledge of contractual law, unlike a run of the mill journalist. Much the same way I would trust your judgment on the nuances of the Kreb's cycle .

I don't believe that at rollcall cops get pumped up on the idea of beating up gay men, nor that their daily assignments are to bash fags, nor do I believe it happens all the time, but I do believe it happens/has happened.

I for one don't think all cops are assholes, I believe that 99.44% are on the force "to protect and serve" and are just doing their jobs. But there is no denying that there are some that are assholes, and probably get a boner from getting physical with people.

Given the total number of cops in the US, the percentage and number of 'bad' cops is probably miniscule. Unfortunately they get the press, and make for a bad public perception of cops. The same holds true for the limp-wristed, lisping, feather-boaed, leather-jockstrapped, purple-taffetaed queens that prance in gay pride parades giving the public the impression that's what all gay men are like.

Hey crazy? Who's this? :rocker: Your live in jocker?

Look kid, I wont lie to you. I didn't get thru that last post of yours. All I had to do was to read the "anti-cop shrieking" and that was enough. Jesus Christ! You bra-burning,bomb throwing, leftist dykes always start shrieking about the brutal police.

You want to know who I'm working with tonight? What partner? Shes a 5' tall, petite, lesbian, police officer. I myself haven't gotten a citizen complaint in 15 years! After all those arrests, all those stops, all those warrants served, all those tickets, all the force Ive been forced to use, all the people Ive come into contact with, and all that time in some of the most dangerous urban areas of the country.

Thats right, my partner tonight. All 5' and 110lbs of her. Shes a good kid, she don't bitch about my cigars and shes handles herself well for a mini-cop. Now don't you feel silly?

And maybe in the future you can keep it under 2,000 words, use more paragraphs, and be more concerned with your own fucking country!......................from your uncle with love......... ...Uncle Rich
Look old fart, Ill keep this one short and simple, so that u actually understand what I say, with no need for your closed minded, know it all interpretations:
If u didnt read my post, why the fuck do u reply? Is it the urge to call me a dyke? Does that turn u on? No, hold on Im a "bra-burning,bomb throwing, leftist dyke"... My bad!
I think thats its mostly because beyond ure little pride bearing uniform and quick mindless replies hides a poor little old man, with about as much empathy and common sense as a 2X4! Or maybe its simply because u cant handle being faced with the truth!
WOOHOO for Rich46yo, he works with a dyke and loves it, what a great display of empathy!

Maybe in the future u could learn to read and understand words that have more than 5 letters..h-o-m-o-s-e-x-u-a-l-i-t-y is a great place to start!

your favorite "bra-burning,bomb throwing, leftist dyke"

lets take away their right to vote because they dont agree with me. boo hoo hoo. you cant even get half of this thread to agree with you, and i would say the people who frequent this site are pretty open to listening to others opinions on the whole. there are always those who are close-minded, but on the whole ive been impressed.

going back to my sports analogy earlier. youve been given a warning, next time you will be ejected for unsportmanlike conduct.:)

not an issue if he's gay. maybe ists just social darwinism, they are taking themselves out of the gene pool. this needs to be explored further.

hmm..some joke. But then, wrong again anyway. I wonder how many statistics "conservatives" keep on the number of mislabeled people who commit suicide from the extra burden of their tirades? I believe a young high school student in Canada recently committed suicide for being accused of being gay and harassed constantly in his school. . .but then, we wouldn't expect those who committed such atrocities to take any personal responsibility for their actions or behavior. They'd rather just put it to a "vote" so they can decide who deserves ridicule and persecution and who doesn't. Of course, their own names aren't spozed to be placed on the ballot.

hey Bio, that part of ur post was actually very funny! lol:thumb:

(please note, I said THAT part!lol)

12. the answer to your question is 12. dude your going off the deep end saying consevatives walk around with there heads held high and showing no remorse for their actions when something they do hurts someone else. get off your high horse and come back to reality with the rest of the people on this thread. remember more christians have been killed and ridiculed for their beliefs than any amount of homosexuals during the history of the world.

thanks crazy, upon further review i can see how the first part could still be taken offensively. ill try and be more carefull next time

Ya, but u choose to be christian and to have those beleifs...So u gotta suck it up...at the risk of being redundant in this thread, being gay is not a choice or beleif!

suck it up? wow. and gays get mad when we dont show total empathy. i would say my Christianity is every part as much of me as you feel homosexuality is as a part of you. this could be debated no end i understand that, so i will be short. people can be born to parents who believe in Christ, and even baptized in a Christian church, yet not truely consider themselves Christian. the Christians who die for their faith in Christ are different than these. You would rather die than give up being homosexual, because you believe thats who you are, Christians wont deny the faith, because because Christ has become a part of them.

it's fine if you call me stubborn, and close-minded or whatever you want to say, but even though ive read this thread i still consider homosexuality a choice. i have certain sexual urges as well that some might consider deviant, i choose not to act on these urges. its a choice, and i am a better man because of it.

You, like others, are confusing sexual behavior and action with sexual attraction and orientation. It is no more a choice to BE homosexual than it is a choice to be heterosexual. Why in the hell would anyone choose to be or do something that has been a source of ridicule and persecution when there is another option, and at the same time hide in the closet? That doesn't make sense.

With all people, homosexual or heterosexual, there is always a choice to act on sexual urges or not. That is the only choice... to have sex or not have sex.

What some of you people want is that we who are homosexual not act on our feelings and attractions for members of the same sex. And sexuality if far more than physical sex.

yeah re-read my posts from like 15 pages ago. like i said ive heard the arguement before, it didnt change how i view homosexuality. if that makes me close-minded so be it. your trying to split hairs, i see it as the same issue. unless we should allow pedophiles as well because thats what they are sexually attracted to. you dont need to answer that crazy enough said her response to the same thing like a month ago on this thread. neither of us came up with anything acceptable to the others satisfaction. truthfully its all getting really old.

Well sports fans as this game runs down towards the final minutes you've got to hand it to the San Franciso Rainbow Warriors, who, despite their losing efforts, really put on a show. We have seen an amazing showing of athletic talent even from before the start of the game as Rosie O'Donnel came out and beat up Donny and Marie Osmond so she could sing the National Anthem as a solo. Somehow we should have expected this out come from the begining. And even though it was in a losing performance i have to give the M.V.P. trophy to Crazy Enough who pitched a complete game as she accounted for 1 out of every 10 posts in this thread. This will be one of those losses that will be hotly contested for years to come, much like the now infamous tuck rule when the Raiders lost to the Patriots the AFC championship game a few years ago. An amazing similitude as in both cases the Liberals is California were denied a victory. It's almost sad really how the Mid-West Tyranical Conservatives were just too much in the end. Able to keep the momentum after the Rainbow Warriors gave up a commanding lead early on. Perhaps it was the hatred and bigotry that is such a part of the Religous Amerirican psyche that makes the U.S. no longer the land of the free, home of the brave, another opportunity for power hungry rightests to show their dominance by beating up and oppressing the minorities. Maybe it was the zealots in the left who despite their good intentions pushed those in the middle ground into the Conservatives tent by their rhetoric and hard line stance that hurt the Rainbow Warriors more than it helped. Yes its true when you have those as friends you really dont need enemies do you? or maybe its just the fact that good intentioned Americans living their lives the best they know how are not ready to accept this in their society.
