Just found this site (thanks google) and wanted to introduce myself and ask for some help about TRT.

I'll start with a little history about myself.

History:

38/W/M
I have always tried to keep active. I played all sports in HS and football in college. I am a big guy; 6'-4" currently 270lbs. In college and highschool I was around 300lbs. I played defensive line in college. After college I took up running and put the weights down and dropped down to 211lbs at my lowest. Fast forward several years. I was diagnosed with MS (multiple sclerosis) in 2005 and struggled with that for awhile. Now all the MS has leveled out and my doc has put me on TRT after my tests showed a level of 288. I have been taking 1cc a week for 6 months and feel like I'm 22 again. Since I started TRT I have dropped about 40 lbs without much effort.

I have a great support team (wife) and she understands everything I have been through. The TRT has definitely increased my libido... (whoop).

My question is simple really. Am I missing out on a golden opportunity with the new meds? I have not picked up a weight since college. I still have much of my muscle mass left from college days and keeping active. Recently my wife said "if you feel so good why not join the gym?" I have thought about it for a long time and think this might be a step in the right direction.

I would love to hear some recommendation on a starting out routine also.

Thanks in advance! S_Walker

Yeah for sure, if your test levels are that of a young guy's you'll be able to put on muscle and lose fat like you were in your 20's again. If your meds are 250mg of test per 1cc, then that should actually put you very high in the normal range, or most likely a good deal above what any guy produces. Meaning you should actually be able to gain better than ever in your life. I'd take advantage of that if I were you :P

Also look into "blasting and cruising" if you're interested. Essentially that's where you run a cycle with a greater dosage than your normal trt, and then instead of doing post cycle you can just drop back down to 1cc and "cruise". Meaning you won't have to worry about losing muscle after your cycle, having low libido for a while, feeling like crap etc. You'll have good results just where you're at but if you want a little more that's what alot of guys do.

Walker - you can't go wrong joining a gym. You probably know all about the body's production of endorphins as a result of workout out. You will increase your strength, cardiovascular fitness and feel overall better. Plus, with the extra Testosterone you're getting, the gym membership will be a real blessing for you both physically and mentally. I would "crawl before you walk". That is, don't go all out and heavy with the weights for a while. Not sure what your limitations are with MS in the picture but nothing wrong with starting out using low to moderate weight and working your way from there after a sustained 3 or 4 month period where you can gauge how your body and joints feel with the new resistance training incorporated into your routine.

I'm sure some of the vets/gurus in here can provide additional helpful tips.

Thanks! also wanted to note my last test showed my level was a little over 1000...

WOW I can tell I already like this site!

Well it's always nice to know the trt is "doing its thing."

Some members in this forum are on trt and use a "blast n cruise" mentality. I'm sure they would be willing to spell it out exactly as they do it.

Most definitely missing a great opportunity by not incorporating resistance training in your life while on TRT. Inevitably we all will lose muscle mass as we age unless we stay active and work at keeping, or growing more of the lean muscle mass we have.
Resistance training also helps in strengthening bone & tendons so we are less prone to injuries.
At 53 I'm on TRT and am in the best shape I have ever been.

Nice 1000 is probably more than any of the young studs produce lol, so you should have no problem keeping up with your old self. I agree though start out easy for a while and work your way up, if it's been a while no need to jump back into training 5x a week or anything. Thank god for muscle memory though, with those test levels you should be pushing heavy weight again in no time.

Be careful with the "blast cruise" deal some will preach here. With your youthful hormone levels you may not need to go that route for a long time. Stick with what your doctor is prescribing until you feel you've reach your potential and have done the research. There are side effects to deal with sometimes when you go to the next level.

Yes. I'm not particularly advocating the Blast/Cruise path but it's an option you may end up considering after hearing firsthand how it works for others and if/when you get to the point where you feel you need "something" more. Perhaps you'll be content to workout and enjoy your trt at its current dose indefinately. Otherwise, you may feel as if you want to spice up the trt dose for 8-10 weeks with additional oil-based test, mild oral, etc.

There are many options. You are in the driver seat and it's best to gather as much info as you can about all and any options you might consider. Also, you'll have to consider side effects, etc. of extra test, deca, orals, et. al.

Yeah for sure you could work with the trt dosage indefinitely. Once you see how well you're gaining though it could be tempting to try blasting once in a while. One of the pluses to being on trt is you don't have to worry about the negative parts of pct, or doing permanent damage to your hpta.

Take the time to ask questions and do some homework. You'll learn a lot in a short period of time if you keep an open mind and read.

Good luck.

Thanks for the encouraging words! I think for now I will listen to my body and only push myself moderately. I figure in 3-4 months I will have a better grasp on how well I can push things.

I'm not looking to become a bodybuilder, but rather improve my overall quality of health. The improvements of my appearance will be a welcomed bonus though. I never wanted to be a overweight middle-age guy, LOL.

After I see how things go and my body responds I will gather as much research possible and decide if adding extra gear will be the right decision for me.

Steroids were available in college, but I never chose to partake. We were subject to drug screenings, but the trainers kept us well informed... It was easy to tell who was juicing though.

Digitalash I have some questions about the link in your signature line, but do not have enough posts to send a PM?

I sent you a message, you can check it under your name at the top right

thanks I got it. I'm not new to vbulletin message boards, but not being able to send pm's sucks! lol

I typed a reply thinking since you sent me a message I could reply, but no go! bummer

s walker, what dose are you on? You mentioned 1cc, but I don't know the concentration of your HRT. Hubby's on HRT; he takes 1.5cc weekly and his is dosed at 100mg/ml, so that works out to 150mg/week; his levels are also around where yours are and he feels great!

Built, I'm not real sure I'll check and post back after I get home this evening. We have a small compounding pharmacy that I get it from. My dr recommended them. He said they were cheaper and their test would be a lot better than the big stores like CVS, Walgreens, etc... Testol or something like that is the name. I'll have to check to be sure.

I'm glad to live in a day and age where hormone replacement is available to better someone's life.

Well, from personal experience, I can tell you it has definitely made a huge difference in my overall quality of life. Before I started using my confidence levels were at an all time low. Depression had taken control and I felt like shit. Which is very much not the norm for me.

Sex had become sort of like a "chore" rather than a pleasure. We had sex maybe 3-4 times a month before. Now it's the standard... Every night, unless the wife is on her period. I'm not being facetious either. This has been going on since the second week I started test. Before being dx'd with ms it was more like 3-4 times a week. Finally our sex life is back to normal or better...

Erections have gone back to where they were before also and better! While my balls have shrunk my cock has gotten somewhat bigger too.

My muscle tone overall has also improved even without working out.... The best way I can explain it is like this. Before I was taking test if I were to jump off of something, say 3' in the air, I would feel like my entire body was going to shatter like glass. Now the same jump would not even be something I would think about. Hope that makes sense?

Basically it has given me back LIFE and I don't plan on going back to the old self, not if I can prevent it. I watched from the sidelines as other dads played ball or whatever with their kids while I sat in the bleachers. Not anymore.

This is great to hear. Im going to have my levels checked soon too, I dont feel horrible but I dont feel 100%. My libido fluctuates wildly and my workouts just seem pointless. I think if my levels are low Im gonna have problems with the doctor doing anything worthwhile (HMO ins.). I was thinking to tell him that if he doesnt want to prescribed test I will just do it myself and he can monitor my blood work. Or get s script from a trt doc if I can find one.

Sorry I can't add to your rep, gotta spread it around first!

bigmoe65, the dr that started me on test is a general physician. I actually went to him for a wellness check after have a minor surgery. (Hemorrhoids)LOL, then I asked about weight loss management and he wanted to check my levels before he would rx anything. So glad he did too. Life changing moment! He's a cool dr to say the least!

Okay here's what the label reads:

testost cypionate 250 mg/ml

1cc intra once weekly

I have not researched this name yet, does anyone have any feedback? been good so far and it's very cheap. My pharm actually ships it to me with syringes for $75. This is for 10 weeks, but it has never lasted that long...

Also found this:

SIDE EFFECTS
Side effects such as water retention usually occur when using testosterone enanthate. Gyno, increased rate of hair growth, back acne, increased blood pressure, and aggressiveness, both in the gym and out, are possible when using enanthate. The liver is accustomed to processing testosterone, so liver toxicity is normally not a concern except at extremely high doses.

Aggressiveness is a definite SE for me. Also I stay thirsty, been drinking like 6 bottles of water a day?

could you be a little more explicit about how your cock has gotten bigger. I am not gay. LOL

okay, but just so you know, I got my eye on you pal! none of that gay funny business! LMAO

Seriously it's just bigger! longer soft/hard. I don't measure my junk, but I'd guess about an extra inch. Keep in mind I have been losing weight so that may or may not have something to do with it. LOL

enjoy dude!

AND don't even think about asking for pictures! buhahahahaa

Your junk looks bigger because you've lost weight - the base isn't buried so deep in your tummy. Still, it's kinda encouraging I imagine, yes? :thumb:
