We armed Saddam when he wanted to fight the Iranians in the 80s. FACT. We created, trained, and armed the Taliban to fight the Russians when the Russians invaded Afghanistan in the 80s also.
It's not unpatriotic to state the truth. I come from a family tradition of military and I have a lot of friends across all the branches (even Coast Guard), and it pisses me off a ton how our resources and young men are being wasted on stupid conflicts 1,000 miles away we planted the seeds for and later decided to come back for. It's no wonder half the world hates us, we invaded two countries in one presidency, and we're considering invading another, even though they pose no threat to us.
Look these up if you don't believe me. But don't go calling someone an idiot because of the facts they're stating.

this is why I tell people to search the National Security Archive and to read what is available from the Defense Planning Guide (Wolfowitz Doctrine) from the early 90's. It stated that since the fall of the Soviet Union that there were NO THREATS to the US and that Saddam needed to be removed from power to open up Iraq oil to the US and UK along with establishing a military presence there to protect US interests. then all of a sudden there was a global war on terror and Islam was trying to bring down the US. country's with no real ICBM tech, no real Navy, no real Air-force, etc...it's the biggest bunch of bullshit

Saddam had his own T72 tank factory and Russian advisers until the day of our first invasion.
